Kingston Lafferty Design designers like to break the rules and break stereotypes and are not afraid, but on the contrary, they like to experiment with color. In their works there are always bold interior solutions and a mix of bright colors without compromising elegance and style. An example is their new project in Dublin called Bushfield Residence.

The project is based on the idea of mixing old and new, past and modern, historical architecture of the building and bright, modern design. Before the studio started working, it was an old house with traditional Victorian features: stucco on the ceiling, arched spans and niches. These original details have been preserved, restored and taken into account when designing a new extension with a spacious kitchen and dining room in collaboration with the architects of Noji Architects Studio.

The dialogue of the old and the new in the interior creates a spectacular contrast, which, performed by Kingston Lafferty Design, looks bright, unexpected and fresh. Designers have made a bet on color: bold, non-standard combinations that create a positive atmosphere and a good mood in the house.

In two adjacent living rooms, they used dark, calm shades of green for walls, furniture and finishes to make the space as conducive to relaxation and pleasant pastime as possible. The impression is complemented by upholstered furniture in a cozy velvet upholstery.

The owners of the house have a wonderful collection of works of art, which has become the main decoration of the rooms. Paintings can be found even in the corridor, where designers have designed an impressive hall resembling an art gallery. A small space was made visually larger thanks to the mirrored wall, on which some of the works were also hung.

The kitchen is located in a new attached wing and is combined with the dining room, a pattern is made on the relief ceiling that echoes the relief decor on the walls in the living room. Unlike the rest of the premises of the house, light pastel shades prevail here. The only exception is the embossed blue kitchen apron, which occupies the entire wall from the worktop to the ceiling. The transparent doors of the upper cabinets and the absence of a back wall further enhance this effect.

Near the kitchen there is a music room — with musical instruments, album covers as decor and portraits of favorite artists on the walls.

In private areas, there is also a calm pastel palette, diluted with golden and purple shades. An elegant dressing table with a large round mirror is provided in the master bedroom of the house. In general, the project turned out to be organic and memorable, but at the same time, the house is cozy and comfortable — ideal for the life of a creative family that is no stranger to a passion for experimentation and who loves art.
