A house in earthy tones in Istanbul

Combining the expressive textures of rough plaster and concrete, architect Habif Mimarlik created a cozy refuge from the hustle and bustle of the city

In Istanbul, on the hillside there is this house, which you do not immediately notice among the trees. It is inscribed in the surrounding landscape: the roof and most of the facades are covered with plants, so that the building practically merges with the forest. It was built by the Turkish architect Habif Mimarlık for a young family with two children who dreamed of a quiet refuge. where you could hide from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Taking into account the wishes of the owners, the architect chose an open layout and panoramic glazing. The living room with fireplace and dining room form a single space, which, if you open the glass doors, becomes a natural extension of the garden with a swimming pool (it is located right at the foot of the stairs leading to the house).

For interiors, the designer chose a noble earthy palette. Beige plaster on the walls is combined with slatted panels of cherry wood and the rough texture of the concrete from which the fireplace is made. Tall plants standing in sculptural niches and wooden furniture of smooth, rounded shapes allow you to fill the house with a warm, cozy atmosphere - just like in a spring forest.
