A house in the Moscow region: the project of Ivan and Natalia Trofimov

A black wooden house eight kilometers from Moscow is the result of thoughtful, unhurried work of Natalia and Ivan Trofimov's Blockstudio bureau for a happy family with two children

Taking as a basis the ready-made project chosen by the owner, architects Ivan and Natalia Trofimovs created a complex of buildings consisting of a main house with an area of 500 square meters, a bath block (pictured) and a gazebo for barbecue. The landscape, also designed by the Trofimovs, is tied to the view from the windows.

Architects Natalia and Ivan Trofimovs treat this house with a special feeling. "This work is the ideal case when the customer came to us for the interior even before the house was built," the architects say. — Together with the owner, we carefully studied the wooden house project he selected, ordered in Finland, and, I must say, we changed a lot in it.

The owners like to walk barefoot on a warm slate floor. "It feels like walking on a sun-warmed rock along the sea." Under the stairs, designed by the Trofimovs, there is a Moving portrait sculpture by Lars Zech.

Painted in the color of matte graphite, the facade made of glued beams from Lumi Polar has become an ideal background for plants.

They turned the staircase in the other direction from the entrance, supplemented it with ceiling windows. The rest of the windows were moved in such a way that there were through views of the garden throughout the house. Initially, the two-light hallway was blocked, and the living room, on the contrary, was made two-light.

Right from the living room, children jump out into the outdoor pool. The outdoor pool is used almost all year round — and no colds.

The owners wanted a wooden eco-friendly house that is controlled from a smartphone from anywhere in the world.

Now the windows of the children's play area located on the second floor overlook the two-light living room. The traditional Finnish stove, which according to the project was supposed to be in the living room, was replaced with a two-sided fireplace. Then we designed interiors for a long time and thoughtfully, landscape design tied to the view from the windows, an outdoor swimming pool and a gazebo with a barbecue fireplace."

The owners, a family with two children, have always lived in the center of Moscow. Having decided to move to the country, they wanted to build an eco-friendly wooden house with all the joys of suburban life, which at the same time will be similar to urban housing, equipped with all technical innovations and controlled from a smartphone from anywhere in the world.

In order to find the perfect shade of black for painting the facade — this idea arose at the first meeting with the customer — about a dozen samples were made until the "matte dark graphite" was found, which, according to Ivan, has a unique property of dissolving in the surrounding nature. It's not for nothing that Norwegians love him so much, but this is so, by the way. The house is really inextricably linked with nature.

The place of TVs in the bedrooms is occupied by panoramic views from the windows. Right from the living room, children jump out into the outdoor pool. The outdoor pool, by the way, is used almost all year round — and no colds. "The family loves children very much, while there are rules," says Natalia. — For example, children should not distract their father when he is working in the office.

The study is separated from the living room by a sliding partition. "The glass is duplicated by a thick curtain, but I have never seen it closed," the architect notes. The ceiling is sheathed with oak slats, behind which engineering communications are hidden. Shelving, USM. Floor lamp, Marset. A pair of Gaston, Poliform chairs. Tables, Ethnicraft. Work chair, Vitra. Table lamp, Santa & Cole. On the wall — "Golden Landscape" by Boris Kocheishvili, Tamara Vekhova Gallery.

Although it is separated from the living room by only a glass partition, this rule is observed. Especially for children, there is a drawing area in the hall near the study. The table is easily adjustable in height, which is incredibly convenient.

By the way, for this project we have picked up absolutely all the furnishings, from cabinets to cutlery. At the same time, not a single thing was bought from the catalog. The customer certainly wanted to test everything on himself. One day we flew to Barcelona for two days on purpose, literally to sit on sofas that I found in a small store and was amazed at how comfortable they were."
