The stylish interior is built on the preferences of the apartment owners, who from time to time come to relax in the cultural capital. In contrast to the usually cloudy and gray landscapes of St. Petersburg, the space is decorated in the colors of the sunny seashore. Blue and light blue shades, milky beige pleasant to the eye and bright gold and brass set up a positive.
A married couple bought an apartment in St. Petersburg so that during frequent visits to the Northern capital on weekends and during the summer holidays they would not stay in hotels. The property is located in a small brick residential complex in the Primorsky district. The windows offer side views of the water and the park. Customers dreamed of seeing their "summer" residence bright and presentable.
Functionally, it was necessary to divide the area into public and private parts. In the living room, in addition to a folding sofa in front of the TV and fireplace, they wanted to arrange a soft area by the window. An additional place to rest was planned on the loggia.
Redevelopment
The developer offered an apartment with interior partitions dividing the space into a living room, a kitchen-living room, a bathroom, an entrance hall and a dressing room. To implement the wishes of customers, the dressing room was reduced to the size of a built-in closet (many storage places in the apartment were not required) and the area of the entrance area and the bathroom was optimized. It turned out to expand the bathroom by transferring the door to the bedroom from the hallway to the living room. In addition, in order to visually increase the space, the hallway was combined with the kitchen-living room.
Repair
Interior curtain partitions were made of foam blocks, and, according to the redevelopment project, their excess parts were dismantled. New partitions were erected from drywall on a metal frame on top of the existing floor screed. Paint was used to finish the walls of the main rooms.
To separate the soft wall panels on the wall in the living room, special flat metal profiles were ordered. The ceilings were also sewn with a GCL with a lowering of 80-100 mm in different rooms for the installation of built-in lamps and for the ideal docking with ceiling cornices. Windows and radiators were left from the developer.
Interior doors were ordered for the project, as well as an overlay on the front door in support of the unity of style. The loggia in the "summer" apartment was not insulated. However, for a comfortable pastime, an IR heater was provided that warms the surfaces, not the air.
The designer decided to highlight the most "specific" wall in the bathroom in a very delicate way. The choice fell on hexagons (hexagonal tiles) with an unusual relief, like an open umbrella, and partial milling notches. In combination with flat hexagons of the same shade and the same size, an abstract composition was obtained, the volume of which was highlighted by illumination.
Working with a hexagon format is always more difficult, since it requires trimming the tiles along all the boundaries of the laying. The cutting was carried out with an electric tile cutter equipped with a special ruler, which made it possible to prepare the necessary amount of material in exactly the same format. Laying was carried out on tile adhesive for wet rooms, starting from the bottom row. To highlight the composition along the border with the relief wall, an LED strip with a step-down transformer was installed in the niche of the plasterboard ceiling so that it could not be seen. The direction of the light flux from top to bottom and in the immediate vicinity of the object made it possible to achieve an optimally expressive effect.
Design
In the interior, elements of classical style and Art Deco are harmoniously combined with modern solutions. Classic cornices under the ceiling, paneled trim, French herringbone floors, soft panels, natural wood, an abundance of gold and brass are adjacent to a bar counter and a cylindrical hood, a steam fireplace (electric fireplace with steam generator), track and built-in lamps.
In the kitchen, as in all rooms, the balance of recognizable classical and modern elements is observed. Paneled facades of furniture are combined with objects of clear geometric shapes, a classic ceiling cornice with an atmospheric chandelier. The mixture of styles pays tribute to traditions and demonstrates the relevance of the interior solution.
The wide windowsill in the living room with soft pillows is conducive to relaxation. The Roman curtain is optimal with such functionality: it does not interfere, does not get dirty. The MDF panel covering the radiator with slots for the circulation of warm air consists of two parts, and if necessary it can be removed.
The design of the bed is based on the classic contrast of textile decor and with the addition of fine print and texture. In combination with white bed linen, all this looks very elegant.
The accent carpet made of porcelain stoneware in the hallway is created in classical traditions. The symmetrical pattern sets the mood right from the entrance to the apartment, it echoes the lines of laying with the engineering board, the mirror insert of the built-in wardrobe with sliding doors, paneled trim.
In the bathroom, the general concept was supported by the same basic colors, the same combination of rectangular and elegant shapes, the same nobility of marble decoration. Ceramic granite was preferred to natural stone, which is easy to care for and install and perfectly conveys the natural pattern of the source material.

Initially, the customers wanted a modern interior with scandi elements, but the first sketches did not impress them. This happens in the case of the first experience of contacting a designer, and this is normal. Only on the third attempt, by selecting specific items and making collages, we were able to find something that completely satisfied us. It turned out that the owners of the apartment do not like elements of modern or Scandinavian aesthetics at all, but rather Art Deco and classics: moldings on the walls and cornices under the ceiling, gold and brass, delicate marble texture, etc. From all the chosen, an interesting mix has developed, adapted to the realities: with modern materials, furniture, plumbing, natural textures and favorite shades of milky cream and blue-blue, which is associated with the sea and sand, that is, with rest. Special thanks to the customers: they followed the sketches very carefully and did not deviate from the project, although such a temptation arises due to the variety of choices. They selected paintings, decorative accessories for the bathroom and kitchen utensils on their own based on sketches and, it seems to me, they were able to organically continue the interior concept.
