Perhaps the most popular demand of young tenants is no "granny" furniture. The owners, on the contrary, are fond of retro details and do not want to get rid of them. How to combine elements of the Soviet era and modern trends to please everyone? Designer Alexandra Rasskazova found a solution and created an eclectic interior of an apartment for rent

"The customers, a mature married couple, have been living outside the city for a long time, but they still have warm feelings for their first apartment. They wanted to breathe new life into it for subsequent rental," says the author of the project, Alexandra Rasskazova.

"When I first saw this apartment, it seemed to me cramped and dark, I wanted to expand the openings, let in as much light and air as possible. We made a small redevelopment, which did not affect the load-bearing walls: we combined the living room with the hallway, installing a wide doorway with a transom, and a bathroom with a toilet, and also equipped a dressing room."
The painting was brought by the customers from Stockholm. Wall mirror, vintage.

"It was decided to make the walls light, almost white, because this is the perfect background for bright accents in the form of furniture, decor and art. A soft mustard-colored sofa, a black-and-white carpet on the floor and a painting "Tournament in Garros" added dynamics to the monochrome space of the living room. And the vintage bent beech chair at the desktop and the "grandmother's" chair brought that very note of nostalgia, so important for customers."

"The dark gray facades of the cabinets in the kitchen are perfectly combined with the upholstery of the chairs of deep wine color. The chairs have been stored here since the 1980s, but for the project they underwent a complete restoration and were dressed in an elegant velvety fabric."

"To increase the area of the bathroom, we combined it with a bathroom and placed a spacious shower room with a wide pedestal under the sink. Rigor and functionality are emphasized here by a combination of fine black mosaic on the floor and white square tiles on the walls with contrasting dark grout."

"The customers wanted to make a dressing room next to the bedroom. There remained a rather elongated room with an asymmetrically positioned entrance. We moved the opening to another wall, and as a result, the bedroom turned out to be more regular in shape, and there was enough space for everything you need: a large bed, bedside tables, consoles and armchairs. At the same time, the dressing room with an entrance directly from the bedroom turned out to be spacious with a large number of shelves, drawers and sections for clothes."
