The customer had investment plans for this apartment, so it had to be allocated with the help of an interesting design, but strictly within budget limits. Creating an interior for an unknown tenant is difficult and at the same time fascinating: you can come up with his character and biography. The designers decided that the apartment is intended for a young respectable couple working in the center of Moscow, who prefer to dine in restaurants and sometimes cook at home. The couple loves to receive guests and is guided in the world of design and art.

"In the original project, it was a two—room apartment with isolated rooms," Anna Kozlova and Venera Teregulova say. — After considering several layout options, we decided to stop at the option with a combined kitchen-living room. The apartment is specific, the customer wanted to focus on this." In the private area of the bedroom, it was possible to allocate a zone for a separate bathroom and a dressing room, in the main part of the apartment a spacious hall with a spacious wardrobe and a guest bathroom with a laundry function were equipped.

The stylistics are based on the idea of a "cave" in a big city. "We wanted to create an actual interior in the nude color scheme," the authors of the project explain, "but to make it not a delicate pastel, but, on the contrary, rough and original." This is how the image of the "cave" and the shades of the earth that emerge from it, the contrast of textures, man-made pieces of furniture and decor that are connected with things inspired by the Bauhaus and mid-century period.

In the kitchen, for example, the lower cabinets with their proportions refer to the aesthetics of bauhaus, and the decoration of the upper cases (textured ash veneer) reflects the concept of neo-primitiveness, naturalness, man-made. Modern pencil cases with technology were removed from the main conceptual part and merged with the wall so as not to disturb the atmosphere. Vintage Italian Belotti chairs (Italy, 1980s), from Tonro Gallery, add a special charm to the dining area. Their seats are covered with vegetable-tanned leather.

The most unusual element in the interior is the wall painting in the bedroom. "We have been looking for an accent wall decoration option for a long time," the authors of the project recall, "we considered wallpaper, panels, tapestries. However, we did not come across anything that corresponded to the concept and did not go beyond the budget of the customer."

Desperate, the designers came to the conclusion that since they could not find something ready, they would have to paint the wall themselves - and this was the best solution. Inspired by examples of rock paintings, they, together with the artist Maria Namolova, developed sketches, approved the application technique and got an excellent result.

With a concrete sink in the bathroom, which is also stylized as a "cave", there was a story from the category "there would be no happiness, but misfortune helped." A suitable model was found, but the manufacturer was not ready to make it in the right beige shade. And they were in other places, but everything was wrong — prices, deadlines, forms. We decided to return to the first company, resigned to the fact that the sink will be white. But something went wrong during the manufacturing process, and the sink darkened just to the right shade. The company called and apologized, not assuming that everything worked out as well as possible.
