The house in which this apartment is located is considered one of the attractions of the Petrograd side, it was built in the Art Nouveau style in 1910-1911 by the St. Petersburg architect Dmitry Kryzhanovsky. The attic was built already in our twenty-first century.

The attic is not the simplest space; architect Andrey Perepechko recalls that for a very long time he could not make a layout that would suit everyone. Broken roof lines and dormer windows complicated everything.

In the end, after many days of mock-up on the floor and drawings, an option was found that combined both aesthetic balance and competent organization of space. It turned out to combine the kitchen, dining room, living room, fireplace and hallway areas into a single space. As Perepechko says, everything swirled around the fireplace. It's real here, wood-fired, sheathed with metal sheets.

The center of the apartment was the kitchen with an island, made in Scandinavian style from solid oak and veneer. "According to my sketches, with complex and interesting facades," the author of the project clarifies. The custom-made kitchen has become not only the center of attraction, but also the decoration of the room.

The study is designed for playing music, reading and privacy. A well—chosen color scheme contributes to these activities, so the walls in the office are painted in deep blue, and the metal shelving with illuminated shelves is pale pink, nude. Sliding doors lead to the study — I had to put glass so that I could play the piano without disturbing anyone.

The bedroom turned out to be the most difficult room — the stylistic solution was born for a very long time, Perepechko made ten different options, among which there were radically different from the general concept, but none fit. "At some point we came across an example of gradient wall painting," he recalls, "and after that everything turned out like a puzzle." The terracotta color from the depths of the bedroom gradually lightened and moved to the windows. A chest of drawers with a terrazzo stone countertop and a carpet with the same pattern perfectly fit into the interior.

Another interesting solution in the bedroom is a shower room separated by smart glass, which can turn from transparent to darkened. Switching on from the remote control. The trick is that the shower room is located directly opposite the large window that opens onto the balcony. "Taking a shower, you can see the street through the window," says Andrey, —and this cannot but please."

The passage to the guest bedroom lies through a voluminous dressing room. Rack-and-pinion partitions seem to create a visible corridor. The guest architect hid the broken geometricity somewhere, and somewhere deliberately emphasized it with lighting.

A spacious and bright hallway hides a secret room, which the author of the project calls "lapomoyka". The fact is that there is a four—legged tenant in the attic - a Labrador. And where to wash your paws, if not in the hallway? I had to build an additional shower room at the entrance. There she is, behind the black wall panels.
