The historic building attracted its new owner and designer Ida Otega with a unique detail — an extension on the roof with terraces where you can take a shower and sunbathe outside, forgetting about the hustle and bustle of the capital

One of the best views of Madrid's historic Chambery district opens from here: from a building built in the 1950s on Santa Engracia Street, crowned with a huge dome 10 meters high, on both sides of which the architects have placed open terraces. The renovation of this three-storey house was entrusted to the designer Idoia Otegui.

The new owner dreamed of a modern multifunctional space to match his numerous hobbies, including cooking, yoga and painting. In addition, he is a big fan of parties and wanted the guests to feel at home here. Guided by these wishes, the designer planned zones that flow organically into one another, preserving the authentic atmosphere and some original details such as stucco molding, floor coverings and parts of vintage furniture.

A kitchen with a hydraulic tile floor, a dining room and a bright living room were placed on the ground floor. Directly above it is the master bedroom, where a simple steel staircase is installed next to the bed, leading to the owner's favorite "secret" space — the dome. Upstairs there is a bathroom decorated in green tones, with a large window in the shower cabin, which offers an incredible view of Madrid.

And outdoors in the shade of the dome is a meeting place with the closest friends: a summer dining room with a fully equipped kitchen and a small pool with a shower is a unique opportunity to get closer to the sun and fresh air in the heart of Spain.
