"The new boutique hotel "Pestovo Podvorye" occupies a former private house of merchants Pestovs, built in the XIX century. The main wish of the customers was to create the atmosphere of the manor of that era, not forgetting about the comfort of the guests, - architect-designer Elena Makhrova. — I got the object already at the construction stage. The main feature of the layout was that the reception, kitchen and one of the rooms were located in the basement, which used to be technical. It is very difficult to make something cozy and comfortable out of such a room, but I think we succeeded."

"I liked the manor style since childhood, I really loved watching TV shows based on Ostrovsky's works. I have long wanted to try to recreate the interior of the house of a rich merchant of the late XIX - early XX century. To create a sense of well-being, I mainly used antique furniture, chandeliers and accessories purchased from various suppliers. Textiles have become another important element: the windows are decorated with thick curtains with numerous assemblies and folds, and the tables are covered with crocheted tablecloths and napkins, which can still be found in Russian homes. For wall decoration, I used paper wallpaper in the spirit of that time from Morris & Co and Boråstapeter, and the floors were decorated with natural wood."

"The heart of the house has become the kitchen-dining room. Initially, there was a real wood-burning stove, but the customer was very worried about the safety of the guests, so we made a fake oven with heating. You can climb on it and lie on it like on a real Russian stove."

"Each room is designed in its own color scheme and complemented by the same individual bathroom. The main difficulty was with the design of the room on the ground floor. It was necessary to give it a twist so that it looked as desirable as other hotel rooms. Therefore, I decided to put separate forged beds of the size of "French bed" for special comfort."
