Customer and tasks
Designer Maria Cherkasova describes her customer as a successful business girl with an analytical mind and a bright temperament. To Maria, she had a specific, but at the same time a difficult wish to "combine the incongruous" in the interior. It was also important in the kitchen-living room to shift the focus of attention from the kitchen, to make it as inconspicuous as possible. And also provide enough storage systems.
Layout
The apartment is a classic example of a modern layout: kitchen-living room, separate bedroom, bathroom and hallway.
The developer at the stage of delivery of the object offered the apartment owners an option: to leave the loggia in the bedroom or remove the partition. The landlady chose the second option, so she got an apartment without a loggia. It was not necessary to coordinate the redevelopment in terms of the BTI loggia was no longer there.
Finishing
The apartment was finished. And in order to save budget and time, we decided to leave a part, namely: paint on the walls in the hallway and kitchen-living room, tiles in the hallway, kitchen area and bathroom, laminate flooring in the living room and bedroom, doors. "The choice of the developer is budget and neutral materials. We left them because they fit into the concept," Maria comments.
Some things in the decoration were changed to individualize the space. So, the wall behind the sofa in the kitchen-living room is now covered with wallpaper. The drawing was refined by the designer so that it corresponded to the concept of space: geometric figures and large images of a rabbit and an owl are depicted on a light background.
In the bedroom, the wall decoration was completely changed. The wall behind the headboard is covered with wallpaper with a tropical theme. The rest of the walls are painted in deep blue. "The bedroom embodies a tropical night," says the designer.
Furniture and storage systems
At the start of the work, the hostess provided a detailed list of her things, and it's not only about clothes, but also about household accessories. "The information took 11 sheets of TK, everything was described down to the number and size of shoe boxes, the number of glasses and the height of the vacuum cleaner. It was necessary to use the space as much as possible," Maria shares. This approach made it possible to make storage systems in the right volume and really functional.
In the hallway there is a wardrobe for outerwear, shoes and a vacuum cleaner (for the latter, a socket in the charging cabinet was also planned).
The bedroom has a spacious built-in wardrobe in the color of the walls. So the overall system does not stand out in the interior. "We calculated how many evening dresses and how long the customer has, how many blouses and skirts to place the hangers in height without losing space," says the designer.
Also, a bookcase was installed in the bedroom, where they found a place for a stepladder (in a pre-planned niche).
Instead of a bedside table, a chest found in an accessories store. However, it is used not only as a bedside table, but also as a place to store hats.
In the kitchen-living room, they did not want to focus on the kitchen, so kitchen furniture in the color of the walls, without handles, appliances are built in so as not to attract attention. An interesting move in the layout of this zone. The entire "utilitarian" part (sink, hob, oven) is located in one place. But the work surface and the lower cabinets are placed on another wall. However, they look more like living room furniture. Due to this approach, it was possible to form an "inconspicuous" kitchen.
The dining table was placed by the large window. We chose a model at the junction of ethnicity and modern style: the base, according to the author of the project, resembles a pineapple. However, the form and execution are minimalistic.
Lighting
Both the bedroom and the kitchen-living room are quite elongated rooms. Therefore, the lighting was designed in two parts. Ceiling chandeliers were chosen for the kitchen-living room. In the bedroom there is a lamp in the bio-fireplace area and a second one by the bed. In the hallway and bathroom there is ceiling lighting, in the bathroom as a second (evening) light scenario there is a mirror illumination.

The starting point of the interior concept was the "day/night" dichotomy. This reflects the multifaceted nature of the customer. The day is a working area: restrained, concise. The bedroom is a dark tropical night: bright, saturated. There are many elements of ethnic, tropical style in the bedroom: wallpaper-mural with a tropical pattern, wooden wardrobe-blinds, painted chest. All this creates the right relaxed and at the same time filled mood. The living room has a modern laconic style. They managed to combine them by means of a bridge-transition in the hallway, where there are elements of both styles. A bright pink sofa and a basket decor, a side table were added to the neutral range of the living room.
