The laconic interior will hardly seem boring: the authors of the project have enlivened each functional area with accents. This technique echoes the architecture of the residential quarter, where the bright facades of the houses are decorated with colored inserts. A simple but stylish environment and a harmonious palette contribute to psychological comfort, and horizontal and vertical color blocks visually change the space.
The apartment in the residential complex "Greenpark", near the Botanical Garden and the Yauza embankment, attracted convenient transport accessibility, close location of green areas. For families with children, it is especially important that cozy courtyards-parks are free of cars and completely given to people. On a relatively small area, it was necessary to comfortably accommodate parents and two children, a preschool girl and a teenage boy. In addition to the children's rooms and a bedroom, a kitchen-living room was required for gathering the family and receiving guests, two bathrooms and a dressing room-pantry.
Redevelopment
The bedroom underwent the biggest changes. According to the project, the room was narrow and long. Therefore, the architects proposed to allocate a spacious dressing room in it, and move the door to the bathroom to another wall. As a result, a full-fledged parental zone was formed with a passage from the bedroom to the dressing room and then to the bathroom. The owners really liked this idea.
The wall that was supposed to separate the hallway from the two children's rooms was moved into the hallway by the thickness of the block in order to eliminate the possibility of cracks at the junction of the partitions with the monolithic wall. The second bathroom was slightly expanded due to the niche previously belonging to the bathroom. This made it possible to place a shower room, a suspended toilet, a column of washing and drying machines, a cabinet with a sink and a built-in wardrobe in a small room.
Repair
Initially, there were practically no partitions. They were built from scratch from pazogrebnevyh slabs. There are a lot of reinforced concrete walls in the apartment that cannot be broken. For laying communications, it was necessary to build up walls of blocks, but the architects managed to design them in such a way as to preserve the useful area and functionality as much as possible. For example, in the hallway blocks allocated space for a built-in wardrobe.
The screed was filled in. The floor in the hallway, bathrooms, kitchen-living room was faced with granite slabs, in living rooms and dressing rooms were covered with an engineering board.
Ceilings were lined with sheets of drywall, walls with plaster and putty. In the combined kitchen-living room, the window unit with a window sill was replaced with a sliding window to the floor and wall radiators were installed. The glazed loggia adjacent to the room was left cold.
Design
Cabinet furniture was designed especially for the project. It is made of MDF and covered with enamel or veneered with natural veneer. All the chairs in the apartment are the same color with eco-leather upholstery. Each room has several levels of lighting, including delicate evening hidden lighting.
The palette is dominated by shades of gray, which create a feeling of space filled with air. They are diluted with bold coloristic accents, inserts made of natural veneer and the natural color of oak flooring.
The basic light gray is present in all rooms, only the companions change. In the hallway it is a fresh bluish-gray and emerald on the hanging console, in the living room it is a more saturated bluish-gray. A contrasting-colored table and a cascade of stylish lamps falling from the ceiling are the compositional and semantic center of the kitchen-living room. The dark lower facades of the kitchen give a special chic, and the light upper ones visually facilitate the interior.
The unusual floor remains visible thanks to the sofa on legs, which, if necessary, turns into a full-fledged sleeping place. Thick curtains cover the living room from prying eyes from the windows of the house opposite.
The kitchen set accommodates everything you need a dishwasher, hob, extractor hood, storage space. The oven and microwave are placed at a comfortable height. The lamps help to create a mood appropriate to the moment.
In the "women's" area of the bedroom, a hanging cosmetic table-console with drawers and a large mirror are fixed. In the corner by the window there is a monolithic column that cannot be crushed to conduct electrical communications. The problem was solved with the help of an asymmetric headboard, sockets and switches were installed in it, as well as reading lights.
The dressing room in the bedroom is painted entirely, including the ceiling and furniture, in a bluish-gray color, which continues on the ceiling in the bedroom. Here the role of the accent is played by red. The room is divided into a men's area, equipped with a trouser press, a barbell for shirts and jackets, and a women's area, with barbells for clothes of different lengths, open shelves, drawers.
The floor and the lower part of the walls in the bathroom of the owners are lined with granite imitating white marble. The upper part of the walls is decorated with textured gray tiles. This technique works to visually expand a small space.
In the boy's room, the dark gray ceiling is responsible for the brutality of the situation. A furniture podium under the window is a storage place, and pillows and soft panels turn it into a bench-sofa, where it is convenient to sit in the company of friends.
In the girl's room, a band of cheerful salmon shade has been added to the bluish-gray. It goes around the entire perimeter of the room, moving from the wall to the closet. The sofa bed does not allow pillows to fall to the floor, as well as rub or stain the wall. Sconces with a hidden light source are good for the eyes.
The guest bathroom is equipped with a maximally enclosed shower cabin, which minimizes steam output, a sink with a pedestal, a toilet and a washing and drying unit. There is a built-in cabinet with lighting above the sink.
All interior doors are flush-mounted. The aluminum box and the door leaf covered with a special primer are in a single plane with the wall. Painting canvases in the color of the walls creates the effect of invisible doors. The doors of the dressing room are made of tinted glass.

The landlady of the apartment was open to new ideas. The initial request for conciseness and partly sterility of the interior was gradually transformed: in the final version of the design project there are no glossy surfaces, of which there were many initially. For all its brevity, the interior turned out to be cozy. On the floor of the hallway and the kitchen-living room there is a matte porcelain tile resembling a terrazzo seamless floor made of marble pieces of large, medium and small fractions bonded into a single canvas with cement. Such floor coverings are ubiquitous in Italy. The technology was also used during the Soviet Union, which often confuses people. We were sure that tiles with terrazzo decor fit the interior better than others, but customers did not accept it immediately. While we were reluctantly selecting a replacement, the customer went to see her several times, got into the idea, and eventually her husband gave up on her persuasions. Now everyone is happy and surprised by the old stereotypes, and we are grateful for the trust.
