After the announcement was published, the apartment found its tenants in just an hour, and it managed to be rented even more expensive than the owners expected. In the interior, they combined a calm base with bright colors, and also managed to apply solutions that helped save money.
Customers and tasks
This apartment is located on the 14th floor in one of the residential complexes of Kazan. The windows offer a great view of the river. It's not the first time the owners have collaborated with designer Ksenia Krylova, before that they made their own apartment. "The main request is to make a budget for delivery, but with the effect of "wow", using the materials left over from the repair," says Ksenia.
Redevelopment
In the original layout, the apartment was one-room with a large kitchen-living room, a loggia attached to the bedroom and a spacious hallway, which occupied 1/5 of the area. The designer proposed a small redevelopment, which improved the apartment visually and made it more functional. So, the partition between the kitchen-living room and the hallway was removed, a small square of a dressing room was allocated in the latter. Now there is not only an additional storage space, but also a lot of natural light gets into the hallway from the panoramic windows of the kitchen-living room.
Finishing
The designer was faced with the task of saving the budget, this also applied to finishing. The walls were painted, quartz vinyl was laid on the floor in a practical and convenient way, it was bought at a sale. In the hallway area, a square of the floor was allocated with granite.
The use of leftover materials from the previous renovation of the apartment owners also helped. So, for example, the wallpaper that covers the walls in the bedroom and on the loggia is from the remnants. As well as the tiles on the kitchen apron, which perfectly matched the color with the quartz vinyl coating on the floor. The section of the wall under the TV is decorated with brick tiles. It is also "from the remnants": it adds texture and plays a practical role.
Porcelain stoneware of various types was used in the bathroom: bright terracotta in the sink area, neutral as the background. The terracotta color is here as a continuation of the bright "cube" in the hallway, behind which the dressing room is hidden.
We managed to partially save money on the doors. The owners had high-quality massive products. They were restored, painted and fitted into a new interior.
Storage systems
The apartment has a separate dressing room. In addition, there is a built-in wardrobe at the end of the dressing room (from the living room side), which is designated as an economic one. The facades of this cabinet perfectly repeat the color of the walls, so it is not noticeable. In the bedroom there are wardrobes, the filling of which was chosen at IKEA, but the mirrored facades were already made to order, since they did not have time to buy the intended ones due to the closure of the brand's stores.
The set in the kitchen is lined up in one line. The upper cabinets were abandoned, but one shelf was made, which was also extended in the form of a sideboard on the side of the countertop. We decided that it was safer this way the kettle would not fall with accidental awkwardness.
In the bathroom, in addition to the bedside table under the sink, a cabinet was made over the toilet installation.
Lighting
In designing light scenarios, the need for general (ceiling) and local light scenarios was taken into account. The general light is implemented in the form of built-in and overhead spotlights. As additional sources, there are two suspensions above the dining table, ceiling lighting, wall sconces. In the hallway, the plaster sconce is painted in the color of the terracotta wall, which looks very impressive.

It was necessary to create a bright, uncluttered space for comfortable rental. The style is modern, but cozy, with elements of Scandinavian style, unified and familiar to the layman. It was chosen in order to fit the old doors in the array, which were restored and painted for us by furniture makers. They also made boxes and platbands for our canvases and replaced the broken glass.
