GENERAL PARAMETERS
Property type: house built in 2020
Where is located: Moscow region
Size: total area of the 1st and 2nd floor with technical rooms 240 m2
The author of the project: architectural engineer Anna Malyutina, T. +7 (925) 244-50-30, https://malyutina-design.ru, a.m-design@mail.ru
The owners asked to create a clean, air-filled space in which you can feel the warmth of the sun and sand, the freshness of the wind and sea breeze and where you can leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life behind the threshold. When I was invited to the project, the frame of the building had already been built, and much of the layout could no longer be changed. For example, there was no dedicated hallway, the living room immediately began from the entrance a few meters away, and, accordingly, the entrance area was clearly visible.

The owners come here on weekends and on vacation, but in the future they plan to live here permanently if a child appears. In the meantime, most of the time the owner's parents live in the house. Taking into account the possible replenishment in the family, the possibility of installing an extra bed in the bedroom of the future grandparents was provided, and the recreation room was made so that it could easily be turned into a nursery.

The owners chose a modern interior style, but with traditional details

The broken geometry of the walls and ceilings of the first floor (protruding beams and beams in the zone of the second light, strong darkening due to the covered terraces that encircle the house) determined the use of white in the decoration of walls, floor and ceiling. I tried to dissolve the walls and add air and space to the interiors. For example, part of the kitchen set with a refrigerator and freezer is built into a niche that was organized in the opening between the kitchen and the utility room, and the facades of that part of the set are painted in the color of the walls.
Decorative panels on the walls and thin metal slats helped to beat the variable height of the rooms and add dynamics to the interior. The same slats serve as a metal railing of the stairs.

Pendant lights stylistically support the use of black metal elements in wall decoration and are a decor in themselves.

The heart of the living room is the fireplace area, which was assembled from geometric shapes of different colors and volume and supplemented with thin metal slats. Comfortable armchairs with textured linen upholstery were placed on the sides of the fireplace, and unusual tables made of solid mango wood were placed in front of the sofa, the table top of which is removable (it can be used as a tray).

The center of the living room is the fireplace area, which is a composition of volumes of different colors and shapes. Granite "Monte Tiberio", Kerama Marazzi. Marble, Daino reale. For the first floor, we chose natural shades of wood, white and gray colors of marble and walls in combination with dark blue kitchen furniture. On the second floor, each room is highlighted in its own color: the master bedroom is dominated by monochrome with a predominance of beige shades, complemented by graphic black elements, terracotta textiles and decor. In the bedroom of the older generation there is a classic combination of white and blue, in the bathroom of the owners there is a shade of tiffany (in the furniture and ceiling hangers), and in the recreation room there are denim motifs combined with coral. All rooms are united by the color and texture of natural oak**.Bamboo blinds, Paprika Design.**

We have made a storage space under the stairs: a small section for clothes and bags is hidden behind the mirrored doors, drawers are designed for accessories and small things, casual shoes are stored under the overhanging part of the structure.
To take off your shoes, you can sit on the countertop of the hanging pedestal, which we placed along the window. There you can sit and read a book or look through magazines — a small shelf is just at hand. A dressing room was placed next door, suitcases, seasonal clothes and shoes were stored there, engineering cabinets (electric, low-current, collector underfloor heating systems) were placed there.

In the kitchen, I was able to persuade customers to abandon the top row of cabinets on the wall with a window, so as not to clutter up the space. The hood above the hob was hidden in a box, on which a sconce was hung to illuminate the work surface. Cabinets with built-in appliances completely merge with the side wall: for this we had to make a niche for them, leaving a utility room.

According to the original design of the house, there was a partition between the living room and the kitchen with an opening for sliding doors, and the kitchen set was supposed to be angular. The partition was self-supporting, no structural elements rested on it. And its dismantling made it possible to place all the necessary seating in the kitchen (around the kitchen island and dining table) and added light and air to the space. Negotiations with customers on the dismantling of this structure were conducted for a month, they were sorry to break the already erected wall, and even with a reinforced concrete lintel over the opening.

Under the kitchen island, cabinets were not placed all over the surface so that you could sit opposite each other. The customers immediately indicated that they would mainly use the island, not the dining table.
The countertop of the main line of the kitchen was made of quartz, and the surface for the kitchen island was made of solid oak to support other pieces of furniture made of wood: wooden window sills, shelves, chairs and a table. The folding dining table was shifted slightly to the corner for ease of passage.

In the guest room, I wanted to create a warmer and more filled interior that would preserve the style chosen for the first floor. So an engineering board made of oak appeared on the floor and a panel made of it behind the headboard of the bed. The hanging pedestal opposite the bed can be used as a dressing table or a workplace.

For a country house, the most correct thing is the joint work of an architect and a designer at the design stage. If the project is ready, you need to apply for interior design before starting work on the construction of the house

For the bathroom on the first floor, an achromatic scale was chosen, which is violated only by solid wood elements: a table top at the bedside table and shelves. The solution with marble granite was refreshed with a herringbone layout, the pattern of which passes from the wall to the floor.

Due to the fact that the frame of the house was completely ready by the time of repair, there was a difficulty with the organization of additional electrics in the walls. So in the owners' bedroom there was an overhead panel next to the bed — it covers the wires for the lamp and the switch.
They decided to visually separate the dressing room from the bedroom with a light translucent veil. In order not to make the space heavier and to preserve maximum light, the use of curtains was abandoned in the interior.

Due to the age and preferences of the customer's parents, this bedroom turned out to be a bit "rustic", but sunny and charming in its simplicity. Here, the tone is set by the blue textile ornament, flowered curtains, decor and rattan furniture.

The study continues the "rustic" theme of the bedroom, this room is quite simple in terms of filling, but there were no super-tasks for it. In the near future it will be used as an office or a guest bedroom or just a room where you can sit with friends, and in the warm season it will be located on the balcony. And in the future it may be converted into a nursery.

The most difficult to implement was the bathroom on the second floor. Since the frame of the house was already built at the time of the design project, it was no longer possible to change the configuration of the premises on this floor and move the door and window openings. It was necessary to figure out how to place a bath, a shower area and a place for washing with two sinks, and at the same time minimally cover the walls with tiles made of timber.

And the customers have also made it a prerequisite that the window in this bathroom fully opens. This added to the problems in finding a bath of the right height and a place to place the mixer. It was necessary to figure out how to beautifully make the tile abutments to the walls and fit into the overall style of the house. It seems to me that everything worked out: the bath was placed opposite the window, a rack was made for toiletries, and a spacious shower area was equipped to the left of the window.
The separation of zones was supported by dividing the ceiling into inclined and straight parts, wood trim was added above the shower and bathroom. And white slats were used to close the end of the frame with tiles on the wall and hide the LED backlight. Porcelain stoneware for wood was selected by color and shade to the engineering board, which was used in the rest of the house and added a variant with a chevron to the layout.

The shelving in the niche opposite the bathroom is custom-made in a carpentry workshop. Decor of H&M Home, IKEA, La Redoute.
