The walls are off-white, milky-white lamps, a light whiff of boiling white linen on the curtains, whitewashed parquet. This is how Lena Solovyova and Ilya Klimov's new apartment looks "white-white" — designers whose projects we used to recognize by bold experiments with color. "And that's us too! Lena smiles. — Precisely because at work we are dealing with a complex color palette, separate for each of the projects, at home we need a reboot. Our interior is a kind of white sheet, a clean volume with good proportions and without unnecessary details, where the eye focuses only on our favorite art objects. We have a lot of artist friends, and we are constantly adding to the collection. For example, one of the latest acquisitions is a sculpture by Andrey Krasulin. As for the selection of furniture for ourselves, we treat it quite easily, we often change it, try to find a new dialogue between the objects and rearrange them."

The apartment with an area of 135 square meters is located in the quiet center of Moscow. The house, an example of Moscow Art Nouveau, was built by architect Vladimir Vlastov in 1901. "We love old houses very much, the volume and height of the ceilings are important to us," says Ilya. — There is also an amazing preservation of the historical front doors and stairs, which is rare for Moscow. At the same time, there are practically no restored and preserved apartments, so we set our goal to restore everything that remains. Even the historical layout has been preserved — by the way, not the most ideal. There are several elongated rooms for which we have been thinking up a purpose for a long time. But in the end, the only thing that was changed was that the former storerooms were adapted for additional bathrooms and laundry rooms."

"At the time of our appearance, the apartment had a typical renovation," Lena continues. — Porcelain stoneware on the floor, electrical boxes. The former owners replaced some of the windows with plastic ones. In general, everything looked quite decent, but we chose a difficult path of restoration. And it was very important for us to go through this samurai path from beginning to end. So, the preserved stucco in the kitchen was "washed", and the lost fragments were replenished with details according to our sketches. The parquet was made according to drawings from the time the house was built. And the tiles in the hall were replaced with a self-leveling terrazzo floor, it seemed to us that this was the most suitable option for this story."

The architects managed to restore almost all the doors and windows. The missing ones were found in old houses and also put in order. "In search of antique doors, handles and cremons, I became a regular Avito, now the main thing is to stop," Ilya laughs. "In general, this apartment did not require any additional decorative solutions, since its architecture itself has a natural play of light and shadow," says Lena. — It is created, for example, by unique arches in the hall. Their thickness and imperfection of shape give the space a unique charm. Such things do not want to strengthen them with unnecessary decoration. It's enough just to paint it in a warm white color."
