To recreate the atmosphere of an old Moscow apartment, architect Yulia Mironova created an eclectic mix of objects from different styles and eras

The apartment is located in a 1927 house on Malaya Bronnaya, surrounded by historical buildings and streets that are remembered by generations of residents of the capital. Here you can feel the special flavor and spirit of old Moscow, which Yulia Mironova decided to convey in the interior. "The plans were to use vintage and antiques. In addition, the customer has a large collection of interior items, posters, some little things from different eras. It was necessary to create a background that would unite all these treasures, and add modern objects to "rejuvenate" the space," says the author of the project.

The kitchen is made to order.

"Initially, the apartment had three rooms. We combined the kitchen with the living room: for this we had to turn off the gas. The dressing room is also perceived as part of a large common space, since it is separated by wide double doors with glass, which the customer always keeps open."

Developing a color scheme, the architect settled on calm shades that will not overload the space and will give the main role to pieces of furniture and art. "For example, in the living room, all the attention is attracted by a photo taken by Gennady Popov, a former TASS photojournalist. It depicts a 1970s Medeo skating rink. The photo was offered by friends of the customer, relatives of Popov. Another unusual detail was the stained glass window, thanks to which sunlight enters the bathroom. It was created by a Moscow artist based on my sketches."

The bedroom turned out to be more eclectic than all the other rooms. Here, a bright red container from Kartell is adjacent to an old chiffonier, and vintage Italian sconces are located next to an IKEA side table.

"I am pleased that we managed to combine such a diverse collection of objects, and despite the fact that there are a lot of little things and details in the interior, the project seems complete and complete," the designer adds.
