Scandi took its simplicity, natural decor, bright color spots as the basis of the aesthetic solution and added country elements to it. Both styles perfectly complement the ecological theme of the "foundation" of the chalet architecture.

Customers and tasks
The customers, a creative and cheerful family, dreamed of a cozy cottage for seasonal living, made soundly and with taste. Both the facade and the atmosphere in the house had to meet their ideas of beauty, please the eye, have a rest and at the same time contribute to the implementation of creative plans. After all, one of the sons is fond of wood carving and construction. And the hostess sews unusual dolls, paints ceramics, creates prints for fabrics. And all four of them: husband, wife and two sons are passionate about reading.

Construction
First of all, the family found a suitable plot in one of the cottage settlements of the Leningrad region, flat, dry, on a hill and surrounded by coniferous forest, but not far from the city. The construction company was chosen via the Internet, paying attention to the realities, and not to marketing tricks. Therefore, when on one of the sites they amicably liked the project of a house in the style of an Alpine chalet with a terrace and balconies under the roof, with an attic and a fireplace, it still did not solve anything. And only after the couple visited one of the cottages sold by this company and talked with the owners, the decision was made.

The customers did not have the desire and opportunity to fully delve into the construction processes. They trusted the chosen company, signed a contract and saw the house for the first time when the builders were already building the second floor. In the chalet houses, the first floor is stone, the second is wooden. Constructive comes from architecture. But if the Alps traditionally use local materials, natural stone and logs, then we prefer modern and technological ones, such as ceramic blocks and glued beams. In order to organically fit the "mountain hut" into the Central Russian landscape, the facades of the cottage were painted in the color of a green apple.

The rooms under the roof attract with an unusual configuration and the opportunity to experiment with the design, even if their useful area turns out to be a quarter less, and the insulation technology is more complicated. But both builders and designers coped with the tasks perfectly.

The two-layer insulation (mats against the rafters and then rolled with a run-up of seams) totaled 25 cm, which exceeds the recommended thickness. In addition, the insulation in the attic is responsible for sound insulation. And since metal tiles that make noise in the rain were chosen as the roofing, the increased thickness of the insulation was not superfluous. A soft and discreet combination was chosen for finishing. The vertical walls were covered with wallpaper to match the color, the color "melted milk", and the inclined surfaces were sheathed with clapboard with a lapping impregnation.

Layout
On the ground floor, the project provides for a free layout without internal capital walls, with only a couple of support pillars. The racks were left open: designers Elena Goryacheva and Larisa Moshnikova from the studio "Mister Design" found that the load-bearing elements work perfectly for the atmosphere of the house. In order to maximize the space of the first floor of the common family territory, it was proposed to place a fireplace in the center of the combined living room-kitchen. (Initially, according to the developer's project, it was located in the corner of the living room.) The idea was a success, and as a result, a live fire is visible from different points on the first floor. Three bedrooms were located on the second floor, and the fourth room was given over to a workshop with a large work desk and a library.

Interior
Initially, the chalet, the shepherd's house, was decorated in a rural manner, later its aesthetics began to be identified with environmental friendliness. In this case, a more elegant and colorful solution was required. The designers proposed to take the Scandinavian direction as a basis, but not a concise one. To make the house cozy, warm and functional, the customers indicated that they did not see the need for "combing" and maintaining the canons of style. Moreover, they allowed freedom of expression of creative thought, bold combinations and non-standard elements in the decor.

Throughout the design process and the implementation of the design project, clients participated in decision-making, were actively involved in the processes when it was necessary to coordinate the choice of paint colors, ceramic tiles, lamps, furniture. In order for repairs and equipment to be carried out quickly and without problems, an agreement was concluded to purchase materials and furniture from large retail and retail companies. And all the decor: pillows and carpets with bright ornaments, handmade ceramics, unusual modern paintings were carefully selected together with the future owners of the cottage.

The house turned out to be very elegant. In the interior, everything corresponds to the wishes of customers: the interior is not overloaded, but at the same time it is perceived as functional as possible. There are basic, neutral light colors on the walls. The main accents are tiles, furniture and textiles.

Designers Larisa Moshnikova and Elena Goryacheva, studio studio "Mister Design", authors of the project:
Customers liked bright colors in the interior. By all the rules, there should be few of them — no more than 15%. However, we managed to fully implement the request, using the potential of non-residential premises. From the threshold meets a rich terracotta-red cabinet, very effective and functional. With its color, it lifts the mood from the very entrance. The cabinet is supported by a mat layout made of colored ceramic tiles. From the bathrooms we made "magic boxes": on the ground floor, creamy-white with pistachio furniture, very delicate and romantic. On the second — bright, juicy. Bright blue and white arabesques were taken as the base and diluted with yellow and patterned inserts. Built-in furniture with blue housings and wood facades smoothes the severity of the tiles and adds warmth.
