Cozy cottage on the Yorke Peninsula

After returning from a vacation in Sweden, sisters Emma Reed and Sarah Hall purchased a Scandinavian-style cozy house in the Australian town of Marion Bay. They refreshed the interiors and put the cottage on Airbnb. Now anyone can enjoy a vacation in the style of "lagom" on the shore of the bay

Emma Read has traveled, it seems, all over Sweden. Each time, instead of a hotel, she chose neat Scandinavian houses made of light wood. Their unique comfort and atmosphere of harmony and tranquility inspired her to buy this cottage in the Australian outback and transform its interiors according to all the canons of the famous Swedish philosophy "lagom".

During the renovation process, Emma and her sister discovered that this prefabricated wooden house, it turns out, was imported in the 1950s from Sweden at the request of the South Australian government as part of the social housing program. Everything suddenly fell into place and found a new meaning, and soon the interiors sparkled with new colors.

To create a unique Scandinavian charm, Emma and Sarah have arranged many cozy places to relax and decorated the interiors with vintage furniture and natural textiles. There is a heated bathroom in the courtyard, and cozy couches in the dining room and kitchen. The garage was turned into a lounge area: striped carpets were thrown on the concrete floor, wooden benches were covered with fluffy blankets, and shelves were filled with favorite books and board games.
