Cozy fashion designer's house in Brooklyn

Designer Marianna Fiorin helped fashion designer Shimon Ovadia create a warm and relaxing atmosphere in his new home in Brooklyn

Having moved into this Brooklyn townhouse of the late XIX century, fashion designer Shimon Ovadia and his wife Sierra planned to make cosmetic repairs. However, then they decided to carry out a complete reconstruction and replace everything, including plumbing and electrical wiring. They also added a third floor, thereby increasing the area of the house.

After Shimon designed the kitchen and bathrooms on his own, he turned to designer Marianna Fiorin to help him design other rooms. The preferences of Shimon and Marianna coincide in many ways, so the work on the project was easy, turning into a joint creative process.

The house has an atmosphere of calm and tranquility, which is created by the combination of a light palette and expressive textures of wood, soft textiles and plaster. The kitchen and living room became the couple's favorite rooms. In the kitchen, Shimon and his wife spend the morning with their sons, and in the living room they arrange meetings with friends and relax by the fireplace.

When it came to choosing furniture, Marianna and Shimon preferred iconic design items such as chairs from Gubi, Perriand stools from Cassina and an elegant chandelier from Atelier Areti. The furniture is complemented by exclusive details. For example, the center of the living room was a marble coffee table designed by Marianne, and the bedroom was decorated with a large carpet that was made in Morocco according to Shimon's sketches.
