Cozy townhouse with a kitchen from a garage near Gothenburg

The small size of the house did not prevent the owners from placing a dining room, a living room, a bedroom, a nursery and even an office in it!

Despite its modest size, this townhouse on the outskirts of Gothenburg immediately makes an impression: here you want to consider everything: from high, French doors filling the space with volume, to rough brickwork on the walls. The unusual layout is another feature of this house. Opening the front door, you do not get into the hallway, but immediately into the kitchen, decorated according to all the canons of the Scandinavian style: light, wooden floor, white walls and a lot of indoor plants.

In fact, there used to be a garage in this small, narrow room. The blind iron doors were replaced with glass blocks and a double-leaf door with glass inserts, so that a small and rather narrow room is always filled with light. The entrance area itself is separated from the kitchen-dining room by tiles with a three-dimensional geometric pattern on the floor.

The size of the kitchen is only 4 meters, so the owners made all the furniture for storage to order. The apron is made of Opal Valencia tiles of a soft green color and perfectly matches the gray color of the walls. Another interesting and even unexpected detail is the vintage mirror above the sink, which visually expands the space.

Working on the design of the house, the owners drew inspiration from the atmosphere of Brooklyn — its busy streets with numerous bistros, old houses, garage rock. Hence, for example, the brick wall, which it was decided to leave in its original, brutal form — only in the living room it was painted with white paint.

The living room used to be a storage room. Now it is a small, cozy space where there is a place for bookshelves in the ceiling (they are located under the stairs), and for vintage furniture. The central place here is occupied by the Chesterfield leather sofa, an invariable attribute of private British clubs of the XIX century.

The English spirit is also supported by the wallpaper of the iconic William Morris brand based on drawings by the artist William Morris, one of the founders of the art movement of the Victorian era Arts & Crafts.

This aesthetic continues on the second floor — in the master bedroom of the house, where the walls are also covered with William Morris wallpaper with floral print. Nearby there is a children's room with a rattan crib for a baby and a bed for an older child, as well as a play and work area.

In a small townhouse, there was even room for an office made from a walk-through room. It was decorated in sky-blue shades (by the way, the TV stand in the living area is painted in the same color). Antique furniture made of dark wood with brass elements stands out beautifully against this background.
The small bathroom is also not without charm, a snow-white bathtub on paws is hidden behind a flirty powder curtain!
