Then you need to calculate the volume of the entire product by multiplying the height by the width and length. After that, approximately or accurately calculate what percentage of the total volume the epoxy will take. It remains to convert the percentages into liters and add 5-10 percent to the "stock".
For example, the calculation looks like this. Let's assume that the table top is 90x50 cm in size, 6 cm in height. 1. Preparing the tree
The preparation of wood begins with the removal of defects and the removal of bark. Defects are considered holes gnawed by insects, crumbled or dry knots, cracks or chips. Bluish or rotten fragments are also not needed. All this is removed with a milling cutter to healthy wood, thoroughly cleaned and sanded. If necessary, they increase the relief or, conversely, completely preserve the natural shape.
After the bark and defects have been removed, the entire wooden surface must be sanded. This will help to open the wood pattern. It is highlighted even brighter if desired. To do this, apply a stain or oil. You can do it differently. The board is fired, and after cooling, it is sanded again with a wire brush.
The next stage is priming with an epoxy solution. This is necessary to prevent the appearance of bubbles. The technology of the process is like this.
2. Preparing the form
The formwork is needed so that the liquid mastic does not spill over the boundaries of the future countertop. Collect it from any material. The only condition is that it must be smooth. This will greatly simplify grinding. Smooth sheets, such as chipboard or glass, are optimally suited. The formwork must be made with the sides, which must be higher than the thickness of the countertop. All joints are carefully sealed. The sealant is smoothed so that there are no folds. The mold is lubricated with PVA separators, wax or their analogues. This will facilitate the process of removing it later.
3. Prepare the resin solution
It is necessary to knead the mastic exactly in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. The ingredients must be weighed. Excess hardener will give instant "boiling" with a lot of bubbles. The mass will harden almost instantly. If there is a lack of hardener, the reverse process: the paste will harden for a very long time, or it may remain liquid. Therefore, the proportions must be strictly observed. If it is supposed to be filled in several layers, dilute the mixture in small portions. Exactly as much as is needed for one "pass". If tinting is needed, the dye is added to the resin, thoroughly mixed. Only then is the hardener introduced.

5. Finishing treatment
After curing the paste, the mold is removed. The resulting product may have an unsightly appearance and look matte. But it only needs to be sanded and polished so that the resin becomes transparent. They start with belt grinding, then switch to eccentric. If there are no grinders, you can try to sand the surface with a grinder with the appropriate attachments. They begin to grind with a coarse grain skin, finish with fine-grained grinding.
Then they begin to polish. You can take a skin for 1,500 or 2,000, or use a polishing mixture. Suitable composition for polishing car headlights or a self-made mixture of solidol and GOI paste. The product is first rubbed with a rag, then with a special polishing nozzle.
