Designer Timofey Veresnovsky created a non-trivial resort atmosphere in an apartment on the first line of the Gulf of Finland, inspired by the monumental aesthetics of the 1970s

"Everything coincided in this project: the historical heritage of Komarovo with its famous sanatoriums and resorts, the unique location of the facility in a chamber residential complex on the very shore of the Gulf of Finland and, of course, the identity of the customer — Maria Grudina, the ideologist and founder of the innovative clinic "First Line", which is located nearby. So it turned out to be a kind of resort in a resort. We have implemented several interiors for her, and trusting relationships have literally reached a new level — we looked at the object, negotiated the budget, agreed on deadlines, and together with the keys I got carte blanche for the design," says the author of the project, designer Timofey Veresnovsky.

"The 125-square-meter apartment is located on the ground floor and is surrounded by a spacious terrace and century-old pine trees. First of all, I lowered the window in the living room to the floor in order to combine the space with nature as much as possible."

"Of course, when decorating a suburban space, there is a risk of going into a boring "natural" interior, so wood is used here only accentuated: wooden panels in one of the bedrooms, a wooden kitchen and objects made of different breeds. I used cork flooring in the lobby and travertine in the bathroom, ideal for apartments with access to the beach."

"To create a counterweight to wooden surfaces, a monumental solution was required. In the living room, the wall opposite the window and the pylon were faced with Moroccan clay tiles. When it was brought, the builders sent a photo of the tile with the question of which side to put, which put me in a dead end. "Everything is clear there, what questions there may be, of course, this one," I replied something in this spirit. But I thought about it and, looking at the sample in my hands, I realized that I prefer the textured wrong side. So it turned out that all the tiles are on the reverse side, and I was very pleased with the result."

"In the interior, I wanted to create a resort atmosphere, but relevant and original. I was simultaneously inspired by the brutal architecture of Soviet sanatoriums with an abundance of monumental art and the aesthetics of American motels of the 1970s. In one of the bedrooms, I laid a leopard carpet, adding piquancy to the restrained interior, and in the other, a neon cross appeared above the bed — a reference to motel signs and the cult TV series "Young Dad". The same idea of the 1970s is supported by a dining area with a plush sofa, chairs, "office" blinds and a chess lampshade in the same style."

"In the living room, important markers of the spirit of the time were a vintage shelving bar made of poplar root and brass, an Italian rosewood storage system and, of course, a leather chaise longue by the window, immediately hinting that here you need to enjoy the view, inhale incredible air, listen to the sound of waves and slowly drink something from the same rare vintages, as well as the objects around you. The resort atmosphere is doing its job." www.veresnovsky.comThe walls of the hall are finished with cork coating.
