The owners of the apartment, a family with two children, live in another country, come to Yekaterinburg to see their parents. They like American interiors, from the domestic style of the 1960s, and they wanted to see bathrooms similar to a Turkish hammam. Alexandra Nikulina needed to mix all this so that neither styles nor colors would argue with each other.

Each room has its own color and wallpaper is used in each, but where the child cannot get to. In the living room, they are located at the eye level of an adult.

The layout was initially successful — there is a living room in the center of the apartment, from where you can get into private areas. A dressing room, two bathrooms and a laundry room are a rarity for 1997. It remained only to correct some inconveniences: move the doorway in the children's room, swap the dressing room and bathroom at the entrance to make their location more logical, enlarge both zones and organize another dressing room — in the nursery.

Alexandra and her customers also wanted to combine the kitchen with the living room — when measuring it, it was not clear that this was impossible, but later it turned out that absolutely all the walls in the apartment were load-bearing, except for the walls of the bathrooms. "We could only work within the framework of the spaces that the developer designed," the designer explains."

Kitchen and dining room. Table, Skog Konstruktor. Chairs, vintage. Wallpaper on the ceiling, Wallquest.

It was very important to place a table for six people in the dining area, the bay window is best suited for this. The kitchen was made a walk-through, placing it on the way to the bay window, it looks compact, but it has all the appliances and utensils and enough space for cooking.

The customer chose the chandelier for the kitchen herself, it was her dream — the legendary lamp from Louis Poulsen.

"Usually families with children are pragmatic about finishing — they prefer wallpaper for painting," says Alexandra, "but I love ordinary wallpaper, and we made them in almost every room, but where the child can't reach." In the corridors and kitchen, for example, wallpaper is on the ceiling.

In the bedroom, the walls and ceiling were painted in a single color, erasing the boundaries between them. The grass green color became a good backdrop for the wrought-iron bed and the ceiling fan with wooden blades, which was taken into the bedroom as a chandelier.

Bedroom. Bedside tables and mirror, Zara Home. The forged bed is made to order. Chandelier, Faro. Bra, Mantra.

The high ceiling (3.2 m) made it possible to make an interesting sleeping area in three levels in the nursery. Next to the three-tiered sleeping area, a closed dressing room successfully "stood up".

Children's room. Large peas with a chaotic arrangement were applied to the walls by hand.

In the bathroom, customers wanted to see an interior reminiscent of Turkish hammams, but were skeptical about the arch separating the bath — they were afraid that it would narrow the space. But still they took a chance and did not regret it - the arch made the room spectacular.

Bathroom. Porcelain stoneware Marmoker, Casalgrande Padana; Cordoba, Mainzu.
