A restaurant of the Katsuya chain has opened in New York, where, headed by chef Katsuya Uechi, sushi is prepared with a Californian "accent". Creating the interior of the new institution, the Rockwell Group company sought to rethink the traditional Japanese aesthetics and give it a modern sound.

At the entrance, guests are greeted by a sushi bar and a lounge area where you can enjoy light snacks and watch the chefs work. The main dining room is divided into three parts by a series of arched openings and translucent glass screens, on which images of vagasa — Japanese umbrellas are applied. Arches resembling torii and pagodas are covered with red lacquer and inlaid with wood, and glass partitions are suspended from a black metal frame, which is similar to traditional wooden kumiko lattices.

In the central area there is a long table, complemented by a curved lamp. Its unusual shape resembles waves drawn in ink. Nearby there are cozy niches with banquettes decorated with images of artists with fans. The main element of another dining area was the robata grill, invented once by Japanese fishermen.

In accordance with the general mood of the interior, the restaurant's terrace is also made, working in the warm season. According to the idea of the Rockwell Group designers, it refers to the appearance of autumn Japanese gardens.
