The founder of the confectionery "Eclair Claire" Yulia Shmakova is an engineer by education, but has long been seriously passionate about not only confectionery, but also design. It is no coincidence that in addition to eclairs, some of the most beautiful bouquets in the city are sold in her confectionery network. Having conceived the renovation of their apartment, Yulia and her husband turned to the Static Aesthetic bureau and as a result received not only an updated design, but also a significant increase in space while maintaining the area.

The transom window between the living room and the kitchen gives visual lightness and expands the volume of the room

In order to visually expand the space of a 50-meter apartment, architects Alexey Dobrov, Nikita Sitnikov and Alexander Bormotov used all sorts of planning tricks and proven favorite life hacks like transom windows, sliding glass doors, built—in smooth cabinets without handles and, of course, work with architectural light - in this project, even a suspended rail is equipped with built-in lighting for clothes in the bedroom.

At the request of the hostess, the existing set of rooms and the life scenario were preserved. At the same time, a new "multifunctional" partition was built between the living room and the kitchen. On the corridor side, it accommodates storage systems, in the kitchen space there is a niche for a built—in refrigerator and a built-in kitchen sofa. To visually expand the space in the partition, there is a window under the ceiling and a niche for a TV from the living room.

The architects themselves call the interior style "romantic functionalism". "While working on this project, we often recalled the beginning of the twentieth century, Scandinavian design, the works of Eric Gunnar Asplund (Swedish architect, the main representative of the "Nordic neoclassicism" of the 1920s - ed.), sought to create a sense of visual lightness and emptiness with the maximum functional use of every square centimeter of the area."
