On a very small area, the designers placed all the necessary furniture and appliances for a comfortable stay.

Customers and tasks
The owners planned to rent these apartments in Sochi for daily rent, and for the design of a small square they turned to designers Polina Smelova and Maria Grab from the Fartuck workshop. The authors describe their tasks as follows: "It was necessary to think over the most functional space for one or two guests. According to our "legend", these are people working remotely or who came to Sochi on business. Most likely, they are from a large city, who know the value of time and appreciate convenience and functionality." Conceptually, we decided to create a "room in an expensive hotel", where there will be the necessary comfort, the necessary appliances, a comfortable bed, a kitchenette.

Layout
The planning decision was dictated by a small area. The developer has allocated a separate bathroom, the rest of the kitchen-room space occupies even less than 15 square meters. The kitchen set was placed in a line, most of the free space is occupied by the "bedroom".

Finishing
In view of the chosen concept and style, the authors of the project decided to adhere to minimalism and decided on finishing materials. There is paint on the walls and wooden panels as an accent next to the bed. The color of the panels exactly repeats the shade of the overall cabinet in the hallway. There are 3D plaster panels next to the TV.

The bathroom has a combination of marble tiles and the same wooden panels, the latter in areas where water will not constantly enter. The floor was decided to be tiled, including the living area. To make it comfortable even in winter, a underfloor heating system was provided.

Furniture and storage systems
It is always a difficult task to equip storage systems in a small space. But at the facility for short-term rental, you do not need as many systems as in an apartment for permanent residence.
The designers have thought through the necessary. There is a spacious wardrobe in the hallway. "In the cabinet itself there is an electric shield, a device for uninterrupted operation of the network and smart home, an ironing system, a manual vertical vacuum cleaner and directly rods and shelves for storing things. There is an additional set of linen, pillows and blankets on the mezzanine shelves," the authors of the project say.

In the bedroom area there is a console table with drawers. It can serve both as a work and as a toilet, and the drawers will easily fit papers, a laptop or cosmetics. Opposite the bed in the TV area is a hanging pedestal.
The kitchen turned out to be very compact. A mini-refrigerator and a dishwasher were built into the lower bases, a place for storing dishes and a built-in microwave oven in the upper cabinets. To save space on the countertop, a hob with two burners was installed.

A bed in the bedroom area with a lifting mechanism. And, according to the authors of the project, there is enough space in the inner drawer to fit a suitcase, even a large one in an open form. The designers also comment on the choice of a bed, not a sofa: "We deliberately did not make a transformer sofa. Most likely, a person who has come on vacation will not assemble and disassemble it, and most of the time it will be a bed. But thanks to this decision, a verified classical hotel composition has developed."

In the bathroom, a laundry unit was designed, which is a washing machine and a utility cabinet. There is also a locker above the toilet installation. And the classic cabinet under the sink was replaced with shelves.

Lighting
In the room, the lighting is decided by track lamps. There are two suspensions above the bed. There is also a ceiling light, which creates the effect of "floating". In the bathroom, the lighting was decorated in an unusual way. As standard, they make a common ceiling light and soft, it is implemented in the form of a mirror illumination, for example, or furniture illumination. In this case, the bright light is the illumination of the mirror and ceiling, but the ceiling light has been muted, it can be used for night trips to the bathroom.
Lighting and all appliances are connected to a smart home system that works with a speaker and a voice assistant. This was the master's wish.

Polina Smelova and Maria Grab Design Workshop Fartuck, authors of the project
Minimalism was not chosen by chance. Firstly, this style is very suitable for hotel spaces, it is as neutral as possible and meets most of the requirements for rented housing. Secondly, the apartment did not imply oversaturation with unnecessary details due to the limited area. And, thirdly, the specifics of the city. We really wanted to avoid the typically "Sochi" interiors with their love of pomp. The customer supported our concept. We used shadow junctions, hidden doors in the decoration. The tiny space required going from functionality to decor, not the other way around. In fact, the only decoration of the interior, its compositional "cherry" was art. The painting was painted by the Moscow artist Yulia Kuzmina.
