Designer Anna Lutskevich tells how to create an oasis of peace and quiet in the metropolis

A rotary partition separates the bedroom area from the living room and kitchen area. The slats can be installed in a position blocking the sun's rays, which interfere with sleep. This technique allowed us to abandon the curtains on the windows and open a view of the panorama of the city.

This is an apartment that the customer wanted to see as an island of tranquility in the midst of a bustling metropolis, where one could relax after the stresses of the working day. This is largely due to the color scheme and the choice of textures of the project — deep malachite color as the main background, stony gray as a neutral companion and wooden accents.
I am already working on my second project with this client, and when he asked me to make the interior with the same shade of green as the first time, I thought a little. There was a danger of self-copying and self-replicating, but in the end, the atmosphere and its design solutions turned out to be completely different.

Natural lighting in this interior is an extremely important factor. The apartment has a full-width balcony with panoramic glazing. In order to "let in" as much natural light as possible, the windows were replaced, instead of a three-leaf frame, the opening was filled with solid large glass. Now you can watch the panorama of the city without getting up from the sofa in the living room.

Since the apartment has a separate dressing room, the interior is not overloaded with bulky cabinets, shelves and dressers. Large windows opening a view of the city visually expand the space.

Textiles for the bed were chosen literally from the first fitting and instantly agreed with the customer. But the visual dominant here is not a bed with a delicate shape of "ears", only slightly indicated by the rounded ends of the headboard, but a handmade mirror lens. The reflection of the interior and the glossy glare support the "natural" concept of the project, being associated with ripples on the surface of the lake or with liquid, molten metal.

The highlight of the sleeping area was a decorative mirror-a handmade Oculus lens, Decora Glass. Bed, Perrino.

In the hallway they put a large floor mirror made according to my sketches at the carpentry production. The distance between the mirror canvas and the outer frame is calculated so that the source of decorative illumination is not visible from any viewing angle.

In the bathroom, a large mirror — my favorite technique — expands the room and gives additional functional lighting. The light here is not only general overhead, but also navigational — for night time. In the design of the installation box there is a niche with access from the shower area, which allows you to free the walls inside the shower from protruding shelves.

In the bathroom, the bathtub was replaced with a shower, the floor of which is lined with marble mosaic, which creates a pleasant tactile sensation for the feet.
