Norm Architects Danes are famous for their love of minimalism, simple, laconic furniture made of natural materials and the most restrained, almost monochrome range. Their new project, the reconstruction of an old wooden house lost in the forests of Sweden, was no exception. The owners wanted to make it more cozy and comfortable, and at the same time move away from the traditional design characteristic of wooden country houses in favor of a more modern style.

"Designing country houses is a real exercise in minimalism and simplicity," the designers say, "although the path to this sometimes turns out to be extremely difficult and thorny"

On the ground floor there is a space combining several zones.

The house has two floors. On the ground floor there is a cozy living room with a wood-burning stove and a dining room combined with a kitchen. The kitchen set with wooden facades and without upper cabinets looks laconic and not bulky — in full accordance with the specified interior style.

The second floor of the house is occupied by private areas — bedrooms and bathrooms. The main house is designed for two families, and if friends come to the owners, they will be able to stay in a guest house located nearby.

Beige-gray shades prevail in the interior and a lot of oak is used — built-in storage systems, kitchen, tables, beds and chairs, as well as ceiling beams are made of this wood. The dark, picturesque texture of oak perfectly combines with the shade of the walls and minimalist design — the perfect embodiment of the Scandinavian style and the corporate aesthetics of Norm Architects.
"This house is suitable for recreation both in summer and in winter. In this project, we have reinterpreted the rustic style in a modern way," the designers say. "Despite the fact that it is located far from big cities, it has everything you need for a measured and comfortable life in nature."

Most of the furniture in the house is made of oak.

Thanks to the large number of bedrooms, the house can accommodate two families.
