"The project's customers, a family with two children, came to Minsk from Canada and planned to set up their real estate business here. To begin with, they purchased an apartment in the city center in a five-story building built in 1956. The customers got it almost in its original form: cornices and moldings were preserved, a herringbone parquet was laid on the floor, there were shelves with books and memorabilia belonging to the first owner in the rooms. I wanted to keep this atmosphere of an apartment with a history, but the retro style with a reference to the 1950s was not close to the owners. As a result, we settled on the Scandinavian style with elements of classics," says Ekaterina Garashchuk.

"The work began with the redevelopment. The area of the apartment is only 53 sq.m, so both I and the owners wanted to make it visually more spacious. We combined the kitchen, the living room and the former corridor into one space, and gave a small part of the hallway for a dressing room and laundry room. Since the house is connected to gas, the kitchen was closed with a glass partition in the Scandinavian manner. We also enlarged the bathroom by attaching a bathroom and a pantry to it. The bedroom remained in the same place, we just moved the doorway."

"When creating the interior, the most important thing was to find a balance between the desire to create a bright extraordinary space that retains the atmosphere of the place, and a limited budget. Almost immediately, it was decided to open the brickwork and leave it in its original form — we only restored the seams a little and covered the brick with a matte varnish. We also wanted to keep the original stucco, but the walls and ceiling were far from perfect, so we had to replace it. I chose plaster cornices of two types: a minimalistic classic version for the kitchen-living room and a more sophisticated and sophisticated one for the bedroom."

"We painted all the walls in a light beige shade, which makes the apartment look bigger. The main focal point in the interior of the living room was an electric fireplace, complemented by a plaster portal, which was made for us by local craftsmen. We also ordered the kitchen from a Belarusian manufacturer. The kitchen is sewn into a drywall box, during the repair process the idea came to decorate this box with a clock."

"The bedroom turned out to be very relaxed and gentle. All the attention in the room is attracted by the English wallpaper with the image of clouds. I supported the romantic mood with a feather chandelier and a dressing table with a mirror in a gold frame."
