The customers, a married couple with three adult children, turned to designer Ekaterina Abolonina with a request to turn their bar house into a comfortable place to relax surrounded by nature. "We decided to create a laconic interior in the spirit of European spa hotels with references to Slavic traditions and fairy tales," says the author of the project.

The layout was determined by the architecture of the house. "I placed the recreation area along the panoramic windows, and removed all technical and auxiliary rooms in the blind part. We also added a window in the steam room to let sunlight into the space. The customer at first doubted such a decision, but after seeing a beautiful view of the fir trees, he was convinced that it was correct."

The interior is not replete with decorative solutions — all attention is focused on natural shades and textures. The walls and ceiling are finished with clapboard made of larch, which was covered with oil. "In this project, I tried to show how beautiful and modern this material can be, devalued over the years of suburban existence."

The customers did not want to delay the repair. The whole project — from development to the end of implementation — took seven months. Most of the furniture and decor are locally produced. In the living room there are laconic sofas, complemented by a coffee table with an unusual treatment. They also tried to make the kitchen deliberately simple by entering it into a niche. Its main decoration was the author's tiles with mythological motifs. The house also has a dining room and a seating area for guests with a sofa bed.

The customers asked to pay special attention to the design of the steam room. It is sheathed with clapboard made of Canadian cedar and thermal moss. One side wall is decorated with a panel of juniper saws, the other with an insert of pink Himalayan salt. "Our main find was an oven with different vaping modes. The closed heater and steam generator are located on the side of the steam room, and the furnace with a panoramic screen is facing the living room, which allows you to admire the live fire in the evenings."
