Architect Rustem Urazmetov designed an apartment for a young female student, placing it on a relatively small area of 47 sq. m. m combined kitchen-living room, bedroom with workplace, bathroom, dressing room and pantry. "The customers contacted me for the second time, so I had a good idea of their style preferences. My task was to create a modern and comfortable housing with an interesting design," says the designer.

"A well—thought-out layout is the basis of the project. Initially, the apartment was a standard rectangle with two windows on one side. I managed to make the space functional, while the apartment does not look cramped, and it is comfortable in it."

"The kitchen has a convenient U-shape and accommodates a large number of functions, although it looks light due to the fact that we abandoned the upper cabinets on one of the walls. The accent element here is an oak slab and stabilized moss. During the design process, it was decided to use a bar counter instead of a regular table and thereby save space. The counter simultaneously performs the functions of a cutting area, a dining table, and additional seating for guests can also be arranged here."

The main motif chosen by the designer is laconic shapes and straight lines, as well as loft elements: concrete surfaces, metal profile furniture, wood slabs. The living room is divided into two parts: a sofa and a sitting area on the windowsill. "The apartment is located on the 21st floor and the windows offer an amazing view of the Moskva River. I used this advantage in the living room and in the work area in the bedroom," says Rustem.

In a small bedroom, only the most necessary things were left: a 160 cm wide bed with bedside tables and a desk with an armchair. "I consider an interesting technique to be a "loft" lattice above the bed in the bedroom, in the wall between the dressing room and the room. At first glance, it is purely decorative, but in fact, this is how I solved the issue of ventilation in the dressing room," explains the designer.

All the viewed areas are practically devoid of standard cabinets, which make the space heavier — storage systems managed to hide from the eyes in the dressing room, pantry and shower room. For example, in the bathroom, the closet in the closed state looks like a geometric panel with decorative niches, although it hides a lot of useful functions: there is a washing machine and dryer, a laundry basket, a place for clean laundry, and everything necessary for cleaning.
