When designing this apartment, designer Maria Kalina was inspired by Manhattan's bohemian Tribeca neighborhood. This is how bold planning solutions and open structures made of glass and metal were born, in which a family with a small child lives comfortably

The suspended metal structure above the kitchen island is custom-made according to the project of Maria Kalina.

"The TriBeCa Apartments residential complex, where the apartment is located, was implemented as part of the reconstruction of the former Kalmykov calculating and analytical machines plant, and the Manhattan Tribeca district served as a prototype for its creation, where elite housing for bohemians appeared on the site of industrial zones," says designer Maria Kalina. — I decided to support the industrial style of the building in the interior with a black metal partition with glass, which separates the master bedroom area from the main volume of the apartment."

"Such an open nature of the layout is very consistent with the character of the owners. I designed this apartment for an active married couple with a small child. The customer is an analyst, an inquisitive, open—minded girl, does yoga in hammocks, loves musicals and films based on real events. The customer is a web designer and business owner, listens to rock music, does boxing and fitness."

"Customers are visuals, a sense of spaciousness and air is more important to them than practicality. Of course, within reasonable limits"

"In order to preserve the volume of the rooms, high ceilings with reinforced concrete beams were tried to leave open as much as possible. The only exceptions were those rooms where it was necessary to make duct ventilation and place equipment and pipes."

"There is nothing superfluous in the living room. All attention is paid to the air, comfort and cleanliness of the lines. A rack for travel souvenirs and ceramics, a TV area with brass stripes, a large fireplace, plants, panoramic windows with a view of the city - all this forms a harmonious space that is most conducive to relaxation."

"Materials from the living room flow smoothly into the bedroom, the veneer pattern is repeated in the asymmetrical panels behind the headboard in combination with strips of natural brass. The bedroom itself is separated from the main volume of the apartment by a glass partition with a curtain, which provides privacy during sleep. One of the unusual details — a painting by a contemporary artist Mara "By permission," customers purchased it on their own, and I was delighted with their choice."

"An open dressing room is attached to the bedroom, customers are neat and like order in everything, so they were not against such a decision." Bed linen, Parpa. Painting "Permission", Mara, AG Art Gallery.

"The only difficulty was the bed. The customers wanted it to be large — measuring 2.3 by 2.3 meters. But it turned out that it was impossible to bring it into the apartment because of the height of the entrance door opening. We were offered to hire a crane, remove the panoramic window with a frame and lift it through the window opening. But we found another way out: we took the bed to the workshop, where it was disassembled, sawed the "bottom" in half, covered with a cloth and brought it into the apartment without any problems. Then they reassembled it so that it was completely unnoticeable."

"The bathroom is separated from the bedroom by sliding glass doors, but here the glass is already frosted. In the center of the composition is a black—and-white bathtub and a round panel with stabilized moss and illumination. The sink made of petrified wood and the mirror made of sawn wood emphasize the love of the apartment owners for natural materials."

"And finally, the nursery! It turned out with a reference to the theme of the jungle. The owner of the room is called a Lion, so the wallpaper depicts small lion cubs. There is a division into a sleep zone and a play zone. And a little secret: in the closets near the bed there is a special mechanism with another bed for the nanny."
