The first wish of the customers for the future interior sounded like this: "We definitely need a wine refrigerator." At that moment, designer Anna Korol recalls, the project acquired its own features and name

"The first wish of the customers for the future interior sounded like this: "We definitely need a wine cooler." Here I realized that we would definitely work together," says the designer. — In addition, they needed a huge TV — to watch good movies, a built—in multimedia system — to listen to good music and a bookcase built into the entire wall - to read good books. For me, this project instantly acquired its features and its name: "Cinema, wine and rock and Roll"."

My clients — an adult married couple — permanently reside in another city beyond the Arctic Circle, and this place for them now is a weekend apartment, a kind of refuge where you can relax from the harsh gray northern weekdays, relax and enjoy life during a long weekend or vacation. Here they plan to meet their old age in the future without boredom.

In the corner of the room there was a place for an antique chest of drawers of the XIX century.

The apartment is one-room, only 56 sq.m., and I had a difficult task to organize an isolated bedroom with a work area, a separate dressing room, an island in the kitchen, a folding sofa for guests in the living room area, and in a small bathroom, in addition to a washing machine and dryer, a separate bathroom on legs and a shower area were needed. To be honest, it was not easy to organize all this in such a small space. I had to break down the walls.
We started working on the project a few months before we received the keys to the apartment. The plans of the customers were very ambitious, but on 56 square meters, six of which are occupied by a loggia, I could not accommodate everything I wanted. More precisely, the clients insisted not to touch the partitions, and I understood that we could not do without combining the loggia with the kitchen and increasing the bathroom. To prove this to them, I had to go to a trick — I came to the developer as a potential client to see a similar apartment at the construction stage, shoot a video and convince clients of my rightness.

The kitchen is divided into two zones. The living room area is made in English style — a green leather sofa "Chester" is made to order in the company Sofas & Decor, and an English mahogany chest of drawers of the late XIX century I bought for clients at an auction in England.

The dominant of the kitchen is an island, the countertop of which is made of wood (walnut), as well as accent items: a red Smeg refrigerator and a Soviet buffet from the 1950s, bought at Avito. The buffet was restored, repainted yellow and artificially aged.

The dominant feature of the bedroom is a massive chandelier with turquoise glass pendants. This color connects the blue shelving and green oak shutters. The customers have a large collection of books, and during the work on the project we called the "Lenin Library" among ourselves.

One of the wishes of the customers was decorative plaster on the walls. Initially, I didn't really approve of this idea, but still we found the right texture and color. The whole interior is built on a combination of juicy shades. Harmony of color, light and textures is the main idea of this interior. As a result, the space turned out to be dynamic, very active, but at the same time cozy and enveloping.

The interior of the hallway is absolutely my idea, which was accepted by the customers "with a bang". Together with them we discussed and worked out the space of the kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, but they had absolutely no wishes about the hallway. And then I had the idea to design an entrance hall with a reference to the interiors of ancient railway stations — considering that customers come to this apartment from another city, it turned out to be quite appropriate.

There are five doors in the hallway, and almost all of them are different, but, nevertheless, they do not argue with each other. The antique mirror of the Art Nouveau era came into the family by inheritance from the customer's grandmother.

The wardrobe with a mezzanine and a small oak bench are made according to my sketches — they imitate an old Orient Express car, and the red doors to the dressing room with a glass cover remind us of station doors and partitions. In general, here, in the interior of the hallway, there are many references to Art Nouveau, inspired by the luxurious interiors of railway stations of the late XIX - early XX century.

Customers are positive—minded people with a great sense of humor and tremendous patience, who are able to listen and hear. It was a pleasure to work. We argued a lot, discussed, but came to an understanding and the right decision. The whole project we were on the same wavelength and the result of this teamwork makes me very happy.
