Creating the interior of this apartment in San Francisco, designer Alison Pickart was able to find the perfect balance between the historical heritage of the building and modern aesthetics. Preserving the high ceilings, stucco molding and decor, the author of the project expanded the layout, made it more open and free, thus filling the room with light.

The designer decided to get rid of the threshold separating the kitchen and living room spaces, creating a single space. The main accent in both rooms were light sculptures by the Irish artist Niamh Barry, consisting of intertwined brass hinges and trimmed with opal glass, which look especially expressive against the background of classical furnishings.

The furniture from Rose Tarlow and Gregorius Pineo, upholstered in linen and mohair, enters into a dialogue with modern objects, and the silk carpet of the living room helps to complete the image. The patinated mirrors on the back wall of the bookcases and on the dining room wall refer to the historical heritage of the building, filling the space with glare of light.

The kitchen is painted in a light shade of Penoir by Farrow & Ball. The countertops are made of Calcutta Royals marble with purple veins, creating an expressive texture.

The walls of the hallway are decorated with metallized wallpaper de Gournay, and one of them has an antique buffet, which the customer certainly wanted to keep in the interior.

In a home theater, the designer turned the lack of natural light into a virtue that allowed creating a cozy atmosphere of semi-darkness. St. Laurent wallpaper by de Gournay helps to add luxury and warmth. Custom pillows with Holland embroidery & Sherry is comfortably ensconced on a soft sofa made of silk mohair from Corragio Textiles in the same deep blue shade, and a Moroccan carpet and coffee tables gently dilute the dark range.

According to the designer's plan, the master bedroom has turned into an ideal shelter. Dark gray silk velvet from Designer's Guild muffles the city noise and creates a secluded atmosphere where the past and modernity are reunited. The main focus here is, of course, the voluminous, but airy and seemingly weightless Cloud XL chandelier from Apparatus.

The apartment also has two children's rooms. The room of one of the daughters of the apartment owners is designed in a light color scheme, while the second bedroom is dominated by blue tones. The same light palette returns in the bathroom.
