The starting point of the design was the painting "Dance" by the Russian avant-garde artist of the last century Alexander Rodchenko. It was with her that customers associated the interior of their future home. Based on the motives of the work, a stained glass window was created for a sliding glass partition in the living room, the color scheme of the "Dance" is reflected in each room in the form of bright and unusual accents.
The owners of the two-bedroom apartment in the Prime Time residential complex invited a designer to competently organize and arrange the available space. The couple are passionate about work, play sports at their leisure, travel, play music, like to cook and pay attention to a pet cat.
The finishing of the apartment started in the midst of the pandemic, so an important wish was the arrangement of an isolated workplace. The bathroom was required not just separate, but consisting of three rooms: a shower, a bathroom and a toilet. I wanted to use bright colors in the design.
Redevelopment
The apartment from the developer was a concrete box with brick partitions. According to the plan, the entrance to the kitchen led from the corridor, a living room was supposed to be on the left along the corridor, a pantry at the end, a separate bathroom, and on the right a passage to the bedroom. Since the spouses had a box in the parking lot of the residential complex for storing sports equipment and other things, they decided to abandon the pantry in favor of a shower. The water supply and drainage pipes were located in the immediate vicinity of the "paper" storage room, and it itself belonged to the category of non-residential premises, so the redevelopment was quite legal.
The kitchen and living room were combined. The entrance to the cooking area was made from a representative room, and cabinets were placed along the entire wall in the corridor. In the loggia, attached according to all norms and rules, without violations of the thermal contour of the building, an office was equipped.
Repair
The floor screed was performed in the traditional "wet" way. The partitions were built of aerated concrete blocks with a thickness of 100 mm, plastered with reinforced fiberglass on both sides, thinly leveled for painting. The ceiling was lowered for laying communications to the height of the guides and two sheets of GCL (50-60 mm). Built-in LED panels flat spotlights. The joints with the walls were closed with high polyurethane cornices.
The window sill block enclosing the loggia was dismantled, the radiator was replaced. All the "cold" surfaces were insulated, electric heating mats were placed under the floor covering. The same granite was laid on the floor in the loggia, as in the kitchen and in the hallway, so that all the rooms bordering the living room "rhymed" with each other. In addition, it is under the granite that the underfloor heating is most effective.
The existing glazing was replaced with "warm" double-glazed windows with calculated heat-saving characteristics. They put up a sliding glass partition decorated with stained glass.
Design
The design is based on modern classics with its unchanging ceiling cornices, paneled white doors, high white skirting board. Improvisations on the theme of avant-garde art (stained glass, paintings, carpet, furniture of cubic shapes) seem to break into this tradition. All this is complemented by an armchair and chairs in the style of mid-century modern, fancy lamps.
The design of the living room is based on the contrast of the blue background and warm wood textures, complemented by the matte gold of the hanging cabinet over the TV and the red leather chairs. In the center of the zone there is a bright armchair, a carpet and an accent stained glass window that works for the lumen. Curtains matched to the color of the walls are part of the blue background, making the interior look more solid and thoughtful. A sconce on a flexible leg serves to highlight the notes, a decorative floor lamp for soft evening lighting.
The designer used the property of color to influence the perception of space. So, cold tones emphasize the distance, so large "elements" are located on the "periphery": the wall behind the sofa, the sofa itself and the kitchen furniture seem to recede back, visually expanding the room.
The contrasting transition between the red and blue sections of the kitchen is accentuated by an apron made of turquoise mosaic.
The air conditioner was allocated a place for two functional zones in the wall between the windows. Its location in the passage area reduces the likelihood of drafts. The dimensions of the indoor unit are visually leveled by the same color of the wall finish. The horizontal is complemented by a vertical original clock with a pendulum.
The mirrors flanking the bed in the bedroom optically expand the room. The abundance of elegant lamps and soft structures (panels, bedspreads), things of muted shades creates a light, pleasant atmosphere. The role of the main lighting is played by a chandelier, technical light is provided in the cabinet area. The rack near the window hides the pipes of the heating system.
The bathroom and shower are decorated in the same color scheme.
The difference is that in the first room there are terracotta tiles, and a cabinet under the sink with a blue facade, in the second everything is the opposite.

When choosing references for the interior together with customers, I ask them to show a pleasant visual range. Not only examples of interiors are required, but also associative pictures illustrating the mood, color palette, saturation of tones. The association method (I have been using it for many years) Anna Alexandrovna Gavrilina, a teacher at MARCHI, taught me, for which I am very grateful to her. Most often, clients demonstrate rather calm landscapes, but in this case, customers chose a bright and rich reference painting by Alexander Rodchenko "Dance". It's been a long time since I've had such a colorful order, interesting from a professional point of view. Based on the painting, a stained glass window was created between the living room and the loggia-study.
