Creating the interior of an apartment for rent, designer Yuri Lutsenko was inspired by tiny studios in Asian megacities

This apartment was intended for renting to tourists. The main task of designer Yuri Lutsenko was to make it different from other offers on the market. "The customer of the project, a modern young man, was ready for bold decisions. The main references were youth coffee shops with their laconic design and technological Chinese or Hong Kong studios. Hence the idea was born to create a minimalistic space that invokes thoughts about tropical camps, the ocean and surfing," says the author of the project.

On an area of 25 sq. m, it was necessary to place a sleeping area, a sofa, a kitchen and, of course, storage systems. In order not to lose precious meters, it was decided to attach the loggia to the main space. "At the window we managed to make a high podium with a double bed, lying on which you can enjoy the view of the Don River. Drawers are made in the steps, and a module for a sofa is provided in the podium itself. If desired, you can get it and arrange an extra bed or arrange gatherings with friends."

In general, in this project, almost all interior items — a bed, a sofa, a table, a kitchen, a pegboard, a sink and a lamp — are made to order. To create them, the designer used the most practical materials. Joinery is made of varnished plywood. The countertop in the kitchen is made of a single sheet of stainless steel, you can safely cut food without a board on it. The floor sink in the bathroom is made of micro cement.

"The round lamp in the bathroom was made by ourselves, which turned out to be not so easy," Yuri continues. — First, we welded the frame, which we painted in bright blue. Then, in order to fix the diffuser in it, we manually cut out grooves and holes for wires with an engraver. An LED strip was placed inside."

The walls and ceiling were left almost without decoration. The concrete was sanded and varnished, and the gas blocks were painted white. The floor covering is made of epoxy resin, a durable material that is commonly used in public spaces. "The floor was also filled in by themselves. This had to be done very quickly — the "epoxy" hardens in half an hour. As a result, we got a solid coating without joints, which visually unites the space."

The apartment has a smart home system. "A dream for the lazy: air conditioning, light, underfloor heating, screen, projector, curtains and even a kettle in the kitchen — everything can be controlled remotely without getting out of bed," adds the designer.
