Polish studio Mistovia designed a small apartment for rent, inspired by the Soviet era

This small apartment, located in an apartment building of the 1970s, was intended for short-term rental. Before starting work on the project, the Mistovia team looked through ads on popular housing booking sites, where they found dozens of apartments in neutral gray-beige tones. Deciding to resist this trend, the studio created an expressive interior filled with bright shades and diverse textures.

The area of the apartment is only 35 sq.m. The designers got rid of unnecessary partitions and created an open-plan space that combined the kitchen, dining room, living room and bedroom. To emphasize the history of the building, the team left one of the walls untreated, and also preserved vintage furniture from the construction of the house. The cabinet that stood in the living room has turned into a kitchen set, and the sideboard is now used as a TV stand.

The bathroom is separated from the common space by a partition made of glass blocks, which were often used for construction during the Soviet era. The tiles decorating the floor in the hallway, kitchen and bathroom also refer to the Soviet era. A cabinet with a mirror surface in the entrance area not only visually increases the space, but also accommodates all necessary household appliances and cleaning equipment.
