"For our customers, Vladimir and Fanis, this cafe was the first joint project — hence the name Begin. They wanted to create a place where a warm, summery atmosphere would always reign. Developing the interior concept, we decided to focus on a modern style combined with ethnic motifs," says Karina Gimranova, head of the Duplex studio.

"The cafe occupies a fairly compact room (only 85 sq.m.), while a considerable part of it is a narrow corridor. Our main task was to plan the space correctly and make it as functional and convenient as possible for both guests and the team. We have provided different seating options: there are separate tables for two, three and four people. The tables at the sofas can be moved so that a large company can comfortably accommodate."

"In the decoration we have created a mix of simple, democratic and premium materials: stainless steel, plaster for concrete and wood side by side with Aquamarine marble with light green veins. A touch of exoticism is brought by objects imitating traditional Indonesian decor. The interior was decorated with decorative pendants, lamps with woven lampshades and fish, as if carved from the wreckage of old boats."

"The whole hall is surrounded by greenery. We used unpretentious shade-tolerant plants with moderate watering, including tropical species such as strelitzia. In the niche between the sofas, a special container with a drainage layer of expanded clay is made for them, which does not allow the root system to rot."

"Light has a particularly strong effect on the perception of space. We have planned three lighting scenarios. During the day, the cheerful atmosphere is replaced by a chamber, romantic one, and despite the fact that there is no special evening menu in the cafe, there are regular customers who like to come after sunset."
