Designer Guzel Eliseeva created an open space under the St. Petersburg roof, full of light, air and greenery

Size: 82 m2
The main idea of the project: to organize a space for a family of four people, making maximum use of the size of the room
Color scheme: neutral gray with bright color accents
Author of the project: designer Guzel Eliseeva; +7 917 75 369 30 , zvetnaya@mail.ru

View from the hallway to the living room. The polar bear of the Ibride factory is a favorite of the whole family, including its whiskered-tailed members. Despite the seeming impracticality, this is a very roomy shelving. The white bear, as well as the staircase next to it, which leads to the mezzanine, are the main storage systems for books.

It's hard to believe, but initially this bright and sunny apartment was a dark room divided into several small rooms with a maximum ceiling height of 3.9 m, a minimum of 2.3 m.
The customers, a family of four, hoped that designer Guzel Eliseeva would be able to make the attic brighter and more spacious, and they were not mistaken in their expectations. The height difference allowed to build two mezzanine floors (in the children's room and in the living room), on which there are sleeping places. Two dressing rooms were arranged under the bedrooms.

In addition to the redevelopment and arrangement of the mezzanine floors, the designer made additional dormer windows. Thanks to them, the apartment has become brighter. Through the windows located above the sleeping places, you can look at the clouds and admire the stars.
Another solution — to add a bright yellow color to the mezzanine floors — created the effect of sunlight coming from the attic windows. The apartment seems sunny even in cloudy weather.

There is not a single dark corner in the apartment: streams of light penetrate into the hallway through a transparent wall of glass blocks. "I really wanted an open space and light to be felt from the very entrance to the apartment," Guzel explains, "so the hallway was separated only by a low partition made of glass blocks." On the other side of this wall is the kitchen.

Due to the design features - a ventilation shaft on one side and a wall of glass blocks on the other — the kitchen had to abandon the upper cabinets, but the lower front is enough for storage and comfortable cooking. The color accent is made on Cole wallpaper& Son with lemon Fornasetti print, as well as on a corian countertop, similar in hue to the wallpaper background. The "green" partition between the dining and living areas doubles as an additional storage system.

Since there are six other cats in the family besides two school-age girls, one of the wishes was to make the apartment quite practical in everyday life. Animals in the house require constant maintenance of order and cleanliness. Two dressing rooms contribute to order, cleanliness — a separate laundry room.

It was important for the owners to preserve and fit into the new interior certain items loved by the family. The designer admits that she likes such an eco-friendly approach that allows you to reuse furniture and lamps. "I am convinced that good design lives outside the time frame," says Guzel Eliseeva, "and the interior items of the past years can give the owners comfort and aesthetic pleasure for a very long time." One of the family favorites, a sofa designed by Gaetano Pesce for the Meritalia factory, has found a second life in a new tropical upholstery. Together with the "green" partition, they create a small personal home oasis in the center of a big city.

The designer is happy with the result — the apartment turned out to be very bright, and even on the most cloudy day there is no gloom here: "You can admire the infinitely beautiful St. Petersburg sky, soaring snowflakes, raindrops, meet the morning sun rays and follow the flights of seagulls."

Despite the open layout, each family member has the opportunity to retire — one is sitting at a desk or at a dining table, in the kitchen, and the other with a cup of coffee, covered with a blanket, can relax on the mezzanine. "In my opinion, it is very important to feel contact with each other, to feel that close people are nearby, and at the same time to preserve personal space," Guzel says.

The high ceiling marks on one side of the attic made it possible to organize additional space not only in the living area, but also in the nursery. The yellow color "flows" from one mezzanine to another, creating a single sunny space.

The headboards of the beds, for children and adults, are designed the same and made to order according to Guzel Eliseeva's sketches. Under the mezzanine bedrooms there are dressing rooms, and above the laundry room — storage room.

The children's room for two housewives is divided into a bedroom (on the mezzanine) and a study-living area with a sofa bed and a common work table top by the window. In addition to the sunbeams that often visit this room, the artist Liana Nigmatzyanova painted two paintings with eared characters for her.

In the bathroom, the emphasis is on the lime-colored sink, made according to individual drawings. The window located behind the bathroom is one of the favorite places of domestic cats. When the window is ajar, you can hear the voices of numerous birds living near the roof of the house, and watch their flight.
