VSHD Design Studio from the UAE has created a minimalist interior in dark tones for Origami sushi restaurant located in Dubai Mall, the largest shopping mall in downtown Dubai

Origami is a chain of sushi restaurants, the first establishment of which opened in the fashionable Jumeirah district of Dubai in 2014. And now, almost 10 years later, the owners of the chain asked VSHD Design studio to develop a design for a second restaurant located in the famous Dubai Mall.

The team led by designer and architect Rania Hamed used Japanese minimalist interiors with a predominance of natural materials and dark natural shades as a source of inspiration. So in the restaurant appeared textured graphite-gray plaster, matte black tiles and atmospheric dim lighting, reminiscent of the basement sushi bars that can be found in any Japanese city.

"Origami interiors are distinguished by minimalist design, laconic furniture, natural materials and organic forms that reflect the simplicity and minimalism of traditional Japanese culture," the designers say.
The monolithic columns resemble the architecture of Japanese temples, the rough textures of the walls are softened by the warmth and rounded shapes of the dark wood of the stools and the lightness and transparency of the glass blocks in the waiting area for visitors.
"The massive facade of the institution immediately attracts the attention of visitors to the shopping center and beckons to look inside," the authors of the project believe.

Inside, there is an atmosphere of semi—darkness, silence and peace - as contrasting as possible compared to the busy bustle of the shopping center. The halls are located on two levels and offer guests different seating options. In a sushi bar, for example, places for visitors are made so that they can watch the chefs at work.
