"Temple of the Muses": a vodka tasting pavilion was built in Scotland

An immersive version of the vodka pavilion from the creative Italians Formafantasma appeared recently near Edinburgh

Italians Andrea Trimarchi and Simone Farresin from the Formafantasma studio came up with a tasting pavilion for X Muse, a brand that produces elite vodka. A small building was placed in the famous Jupiter Artland sculpture Park, near Edinburgh. The geodesic dome, glittering with reflections, was named X MUSE Temple ("temple of the Muses"), inside visitors admire the author's interior with handmade objects and taste blended barley vodka.

The glass panels that make up the pavilion are engraved with the alchemical symbols of the hieroglyphics of Monas. These esoteric signs were created by the famous alchemist John Dee in the XVI century, their meaning is connected with the essence of the process of distilling vodka X MUSE — the fusion of the sun or fire, moon or water, earth and air.

Under the dome in the tasting workshop there are handmade items of local companies — bronze containers and containers with a patina from Powderall Bronze, a table made of Scottish granite and black oak. The chairs for this area were designed by Formafantasma studio and finished with ivory boucle. The glasses, shot glasses and decanters for the project were supplied by Lobmeyr, an Austrian crystal manufacturer with 200 years of experience.

The alchemical signs engraved in the interior of the pavilion are connected with the essence of the distilling process of vodka X MUSE, which is a combination of different elements (fire, water, air, etc.)

Inside the dome itself, the interior walls and dividing panels are made of natural materials such as oak and boucle. The X MUSE symbols are also embroidered on half of the wall panels.

"We wanted to reflect the Scottish roots of vodka by choosing authentic materials that can be found in Scotland and its surroundings, including wool, wood, granite and glass"

The pavilion hosts vodka chamber tastings (for a maximum of 15 people), but they are not like the events of other brands: entering the "temple" of X MUSE, visitors first work with touch and vision — enjoying touching natural materials and views through the dome to the sky, and then, immersed in the tasting process, they are inspired mixing the elements in a drink.

For the tastings, the designers have developed three bronze containers in which barley and amethyst crystals are stored. All of them are made by Edinburgh studio Powderall Bronze, covered with patina and "alchemical" engraving with the signs X MUSE.
