The motivator was the high cost of housing in the popular resort of Palma de Mallorca. The customer started looking for alternative solutions... and found first an abandoned bakery, and then the Auba studio, which is always looking for solutions beyond the standard "good design".

First of all, the architects took up the creation of a backyard, which appeared where the kitchen used to be. The roof of the former kitchen was completely removed, and traces of tiles on the walls were left — they give the courtyard some mystery. If you do not know for sure, you will never guess that this is not the creation of the hands of a modern artist, but the cement islands on which the tile was attached. The mysterious texture serves as a support for patio plants and an acoustic cushion.

The room was opened towards the courtyard and enlarged by about two meters to soften the direct contrast between the house and the street. The interior of the house leads directly through the stained glass window to this "porch", which is protected from prying eyes by a system of inclined steel slats.
The excellent relationship between the interior and exterior creates a sense of spaciousness, as both courtyards are visually part of the house. The interior landscape is created by green plants. In the patio there is a linear planter with a bench, which is visible from all rooms, on the "porch" there are floor ceramic pots and hanging planters.

The space of 106 square meters was not divided into rooms, but only divided in half by a half-height partition. A pine partition separates the kitchen, dining room and living room, located on one side, from the bedroom and bathroom, but at the same time lets in light from the courtyards. Both air ducts and lighting systems are left open for a hint of an industrial theme, which is supported by a kitchen with a stainless steel island. It looks very professional: maybe they will start baking bread in the apartment again? It would be nice.
