In the classical sense, the arch has the shape of an arc. That is, its arch is rounded. However, now this concept is considered much broader in the interior. How to make an arch in the kitchen and finishing options

Most often, an arched opening is created using sheets of drywall and metal profiles. A frame is built from profiles, then sheathed with drywall and putty. But there are much more options for the front trim.

Natural, eco-friendly, natural, but quite expensive material. You can save a little if you use veneer, MDF panels or chipboard linings instead of natural wood. 

Paint

It is this method that designers choose more often than others. It is quite possible to perform such a finish yourself. It is enough to plaster and putty the wall, apply the primer and, when it dries, work with paint.

The arch can be either plain or in the color block technique. Usually in this case, the interior of the opening is painted in a contrasting color. But the fantasy is not limited, the photo above shows a variant of the original, non-standard coloring. 

Metal

If you still really want to add a brick, choose a classic, simple layout. Stone and porcelain stoneware can also be used to finish the inner surface.

Arches in interiors of different styles

Classical and Neoclassical

In classic interiors, arched openings are a traditional technique. The structure in this case has a decorative design: it is decorated with stucco, moldings or wood. Although in modern classics, more democratic solutions are often chosen, monochrome coloring.

At the same time, the traditional arched shape of the arch is more typical for classical interiors. There are also portals, but of a strict, rectangular shape. The opening itself is usually quite wide. 

Rustic styles

Rustic, country, Provence, chalet arched openings will look good in each of them. And both rounded and other shapes.

The passage can be wide, sloping or narrow, elongated, if we are talking about styling in the spirit of a small farmhouse. Openings are decorated with wood or simply create the texture of plaster and painted in a solid color, more often light. 

Scandinavian style

In such interiors you will not find complex shapes. The arched opening will be concise, simple, without additional decoration.

The passages are covered with a matte light paint, usually in the tone of the walls. 

Modern style

Modern design with elements of minimalism, eco-style, scandi and classics gives great scope for creativity.

Arches in such interiors are different. These are laconic rounded, narrow, elongated structures. And geometric rectangular portals. And asymmetrical shapes.
